My personal belief is that there will be some sort of panic buying between now and the next election. And depending on who wins, there may be another round of panic buying right after the election.
So it is certainly a good idea to start stocking up now while the prices are relatively low and affordable. Or get into reloading.
I became a first-time gun owner just a little before Sandy Hook. I could only afford 9 mm and 22 back then. Ammo was so plentiful (it'll always be there, right?) and I was too naive to ever think about stocking up. After Sandy Hook, I learned the hard way that the cheaper calibers disappear first.
And I also learned that .40 cal was always available and did not increase in price as much as the others, making it a great back-up caliber. If you're thinking about it, now is a very good time to buy a used / police-trade in Glock 22.
