I’ve been using Ballistol, it seems to work pretty well, although I clean after each range trip. I’ve been thinking about trying CLP as well.

I use the Ballistol emulsifying oil to make "moose milk." Very good for cleaning up after corrosive ammo.

CLP is "OK" for a lot of things but I don't use a lot of it. There are better products for cleaning & lubing. Mostly I use it for wipedowns.

Ballistol > CLP. I do use both for cleaning but wipe down with Ballistol.

Ballistol on shotguns, Mini-14s, M1As, and M1 Garands.
Lucas Oil CLP on everything else.

I'm not a fan of the Ballistol smell, I use Hoppes, CLP or Ballistol, which ever one I grab. I then wipe it down and lube with slip 2000. The slip 2000 is the best lube I have ever use.

Has anybody used the Break Free CLP-2 new formula ?

It takes a lot of balls to play golf the way I do.

I have been using BreakFree CLP for probably 30+ years---guns run fine and smooth---no rust---so why change?

I also use this for everything. Back when I knew less the shop talked me into a bunch of specialized products and synthetic lubes and greases. Got rid of all of it for the one product. One caveat, I use high temp tube grease on AR BCG. Everything else, including wood stocks, gets cleaned with CLP, lubed with CLP, and wiped down with CLP after handling.

On the other hand, I know hickok45 sprays down his revolvers in ballistol, fully. Use what works for you!

I use Kroil and Ballistol for gun cleaning. Kroil is my preferred cleaning 'solvent' for smokeless/non-corrosive ammo, while I use Ballistol '1 part Ballistol to 9 parts distilled water' for cleaning after shooting black powder or corrosive ammo.

                          Cheers,

CLP because it’s ok to consume along with your food if you can’t wash your hands.

Like other have said, the smell of Ballistol is kind of addicting, I really like it.

I use it all over the firearm including the stock and all pivot points.
