In the 70's I frequented a gun shop run by veterans. The gunsmith was a military trained armorer. I noticed the gunsmith hadn't been around for a while, so I asked where he was. When he got back, he said he had been on a "working vacation" in central America.
Apparently there were some "irregularities" in some work he had done for a "customer" that lead to "complications" with alphabet type governmental agencies. Apparently the gunsmith was in possession of "machine gun" parts. I'm not sure about the particulars.
If he agreed to take a vacation to a tropical wonderland in central America and repair some "farming implements" for the locals, all would be forgotten and he could return to San Diego. So that's what he did. These guys had some great stories, but this one really stuck with me. He said, "Never trust those 'bleep bleep alphabet' guys."
