I was in the San Marcos store today. They had 00 buck and slugs on sale. They do look wiped out. Not many hand guns or rifles. I was also in Southern Calif Gun in San Diego and they looked like they had plenty of stock of rifles and hand guns. They also had a few AR uppers.

Here in SD Discount Gun Mart seems to keep up pretty well. They had quite a few hard to find guns in stock last week, M1a, Glocks, SIGs etc.. Their ammo does not fly off the shelf, it is way overpriced. $35 bucks for 500 Winchester wildcat .22 lr. Not sure what the problem with Turners is. I did a PPT in San Berdoo on Monday and the place was a ghost town.

Turner's advertise pretty heavily - I would say that your average gun buyer does not shop for prices - Especially in this time - So they go there and see something and buy - Remember something - There are a lot of first time gun buyers out there that just want a gun and some ammo -

I'm in the 'Turners is going outta business camp', but they always did have infrequent stocking and I think it is a case of not having enough capital to buy enough stock other than the high profit/fast turnaround stuff.

This semi-weekly 'Turners failing' topic is really starting to smack of a deliberate attack or negative whisper campaign. That or a really damning indictment of the general population's logic skills or basic understanding of how capitalism works.
Being sold out of everything during a huge buying frenzy is a mark of success, chilluns.

I would venture a guess that some of the less profitable store might very well be closing.

I just picked up a gun from 10 day jail in San Marco and I notice not only do they have nothing to sell and was not expecting any shipments (thus this has to be a not very profitable store) but the little things I noticed as well.

I used to say, no way is Turner's going out. Well, San Marcos show every sign that they are. Two employees in the entire store...Two. Service was terrible and the conversations we nonexsistant with the employee. He didn't seem to care any more.

When it came time to meet the other emplyee, he was behind the cash register watching the front door. I picked up my gun, my obligitory cable lock and a gun wipe fiber cloth. They did not even put it in a bag just stacked and pushed to me. As I walked outside I looked back in thru the windows and saw that they had one strip of maybe five generic bags and none of the Turners bags I used to get. They stopped mailing out the blue discount cards to the best customers. I suspect where there is smoke there is fire.

No, Turner's Outdoorsman is not failing. Incompetent, yes, failing, no. TO is run and maintained by morons who didn't know they needed to prepare for the ammo onslaught, and once again, got caught with their pants down. Which is what we should all know by now, since they've done it so many damn times.

Yea had an uncomfortable experience at the one in Pasadena a week or so ago, not much stuff in stock, salesman seemed board by me, prolly cause I'm younger... I don't know.

Although at Ammo Bros the other day, it was great, friendly and helpful and well stocked.

I went to the Pasadena store today to return my lock and buy ammo. A shipment had just come in and it was going fast!

On a semi-humorous note two CHPs came in to look at what they had (basically nothing) and asked a worker there if there was a clearance sale going on or something. I guess he was a bit shocked.

I hope they don't go away. Some people have had problems there but I've had mostly good experiences. Hopefully with the changes going on with Nordyke et al we will see their shelves flush with hardware in the near future.

                              One can only hope, right?

No, it's simply a sign that people were in a buying frenzy and bought what was sitting on the shelves.

Being sold out of everything during a huge buying frenzy and being unable to restock while your competitors down the street can re-supply is a sign of poor planning and/or financial fragility.

Well then it's an inside job, because I'm hearing the same from a long time Turner's employee. Before the Obama-fueled frenzy, there were supply issues and vendors cutting them off due to lack of payment, so I can only imagine how much worse things are for them now that they have no stock left to sell.
