That would probably make sense. Born a shotgun, always a shotgun. Not a "firearm". I was just waiting for one of the law geeks to come in and quote the law and tell me I can't do it.

As an interesting aside, this was today, and I saw a guy carrying a pistol on his hip. I've never seen anyone carry in Walmart before but they could always be concealed (Constitutional carry in this state). But the guy today had his pistol in plain sight, and actually tucked his t-shirt behind the pistol, like he wanted to be extra sure it was visible. Could be because he was a brother and didn't want anyone to think he might be trying to hide something.

BTW, thanks to the folks that supplied info on the Maverick 88. I think I will give it a pass since I can't really "3-gun" it up.

One of the best firearms you can buy at that price point.

Why don’t you buy something used? You can find a really nice used 590 if you can’t afford a new one.

Nevermind. Didn’t know you wanted to go to Walmart.

My Maverick 88 was my first gun purchase when I turned 18. I've bought several more over the years, but my 88 is the only one I keep loaded for HD.

Regarding the Shockwave/Raptor. It's a dumb idea unless you absolutely, positively must have a real short weapon so you can hide it somewhere. Otherwise it's a terrible idea.

I can't comment on the new 500's but I was able to replace the mag tub and barrel on an older 500 with out any problems.

It's the Subic Bay hooker of guns - cheap, available, and reliably bangs when you need it. Buy in confidence.
Some analogy there friend. You Navy or Marine ?

I’ve had Maverick 88 for about 20 years. It’s the first gun i bought
when I first turned 18. I’ve shoot and beat the hell out of
it. It still works just as good as the day i bought it. I say go
for it. I don’t regret it one bit.

My 88 was also my first shotgun. I love mine but I have purchased other shotguns over the years. Considering you will loose your firearm to the investigation in the event of home defense, it is my go to for HD. It is lighter than the standard 500 due to more polymer used in its construction than the 500.

                      1. I doubt it because I'm not in CA.

                      2. I don't use a shotgun for home defense.

                      3. I already said I'm not getting one because I can't extend the magazine for 3 gun.

i had the 20" 7 shot tube model it was a great gun, the furniture is a little cheap but still fine. Biggest issue i had is one time i had a shot-shell jam in the magazine tube from what i presume was a small burr or something or maybe debris inside the tube. Kind of regret selling it i'd be glad to find another someday just wasn't able to really shoot with a short barrel at my ranges.

A great deal. I have the Stevens 320 myself. But the Maverick is GTG.
