    Security guards ?

We changed banks from Bank of America after they said they would not loan money to any company making AR rifles.

Yesterday we went to a new bank and noticed an armed security guard at the entrance. He politely opened the door and greeted us.
I gave him the tip of the day " If you see a masked rifle toting person, shoot for the head or femoral artery" He laughed but it got me thinking.

Why isn't there more private security at places where lots of people are shopping or worshipping, etc?

Do you want to pay for it???

How can we afford security guards when we are providing free healthcare, education etc. to illegals??

    Get your priorities straight.

We already have the only reasonable Gun Control we need, It's called the Second Amendment and it's the government it controls.

      Two reasons (IMO):
It costs money to staff security and the businesses are willing to play the odds.
The applicant pool for security guards is shallow.

I would like to see an increase of use of private armed security by businesses that serve large numbers of the public. This would include shopping malls, churches with large attendance, entertainment events, and areas where large amounts of people assemble. I would like to see them carrying carbines. When these crazy people strike, they cause horrific carnage, and most of these incidents can be prevented with the use of private armed security.

          It costs.more for armed.security guards.

At a mall. How many would you think is enough.

We had a shooting at the big mall here in Torrance months ago.
There is a police sub station in the mall. And it still happen.
Been gone too long. It's been 15 to 20 years since i had to shelf my guns. Those early years sucked.
I really miss the good old Pomona Gun Shows.

Security is all about liability and liability insurance.
Ive worked healthcare security for 5 years in the central valley and the bay.
In the bay we had a subcontractor that hired off duty LEO’s to carry concealed and just chill in the ED lobby.
Now that im back in the central valley we carry cuffs and pepper spray but no off duty’s.
Employees often comment that they wish that we were armed because it is getting worse in our area as the bay boils over into our community.
Administration doesnt want us to even have batons though.

I worked armed security for a while when I was younger..the pay sucks especially considering the risk..for most armed security is a temporary job... many are trying to join with law enforcement.. conversely hiring off duty police is expensive. Lots of liability with armed guards. In addition, California in most cities is a difficult place to find non LEO's with conceal carry permits.

Concur. However I would like to see better wages to attract former LEO's/.mil types. Not your typical pants down to the knees security guy.

I pay $50 a month for Armed Response on top of my multi layered wired and wi-fi security cameras and monitored alarm. Not to mention a front gate front and rear side gates.
                    They arrive in 3-5 min.

Next time you see one of those armed security guards stop and chat with them.

                      You will learn a lot.

In Israel, almost every restaurant, school, mall, club, religious site, apartment building, etc has a security guard.

Just place one or two at the entrance to each location and you are set. Sure it costs money, but it would be a great option for vets or retiring LEO's.

Idiotic comment... they can write it off as cost of doing business or safety! But yeah, no money for illegals!

What is the security effectiveness of uniformed open carry versus plain clothed concealed carry?
