The only thing that it might be is a business must hold on to a used gun for x days before selling it if I remember correctly.

Not true. If its your gun you can ship it when you like, no wait.
If you're buying a used gun from a shop then there may a wait but the wait has nothing to do with regulation on shipping.
I bought a used shotgun from a local shop and had to wait some extra time before I could even dros it as there is a 30 day hold on used guns at an ffl.

fyi, I purchased a couple PD trade ins from recoil gunworks (out of state), first one took a bit, maybe 6 days before they shipped. Most recent purchase was G23 about 3 months ago, it shipped in about 4 days.

Often times with tales of misinformation we can sort out what the person meant or was thinking, but out of context this doesn't even make any sense.

While there are a great number of nonsense regulations relative to gun ownership in California. Waiting 30 prior to shipping a personal firearm is not among them. You may want to be more specific as to your intent and question. Shipping to/from, why? repair, sale, etc.

My brother (In Cali) shipped a rifle to my FFL (in Cali) no wait required, except the 10 days for the CA waiting period before I could pick it up.

OP left lots of info out such as from whom to whom. Was it a consignment firearm at an ffl that was subject to 30 day hold. Maybe his hairdresser told him that.?
