    Loctite....Red or Blue?

I just picked up a second G34 as a second HD gun. My thinking is that two identical guns for HD is better than two different guns with different magazines, different sights, different feel, etc. So, I'll be putting Trijicon HD night sights on my new 34 to match the first one. It will also install the same Surefire light.

This time I'll be installing the sights myself and to that end I purchased a sight pusher tool from MGW. What I'm not sure about is which Loctite to use for the front sight. I'll be inspecting the first 34 under the microscope to see if I can make out the color of the Loctite used, but I thought I'd ask here which to use.

    What say you?

    And thanks!

I've used blue without issue. Clean area beforehand and hand tight; a drop or two on the threads. Just leave to dry for a day before shooting and you're G2G.

Blue if u want the ability to ever change out the front sight without causing damage.

Red if u will never have to replace the front sight

Red is for permanent installations. As mentioned, red requires heat applications in order to get it "unstuck". Even then, it can be troublesome. I won't use it on anything especially firearms. JMHO

I use blue on my firearms. I've never had a problem as long as I let it cure for an hour or so before I use the firearm. I have had a couple things get loose when using the firearm immediately after applying the loctite.

I used Blue on my G17 front sight. Cleaned the screw and the sight with a little acetone and then used a small drop on the screw and the tapped threads on the sight. Let cure for 24 hrs--GTG.

Purple is good. Blue gets used more by me.
