I stopped wearing earmuffs because they'd give me headaches. Good disposable foam earplugs actually provide more protection (nrr of 33 instead of 30) than electronic earmuffs.

In case it wasn't obvious, nothing I write here should be interpreted as legal advice. -
I usually double up with electronic plugs and electronic muffs. Hearing damage is cumulative, so don't cheap out. Your hearing is worth it.
I use ShotHunt PBS for my plugs and MSA Sordin Supreme Pro X with gel earseals for my earmuffs. Even then I wish I had more protection. Especially when indoors next to muzzle brakes.Last edited by k1dude; 07-06-2019, 12:12 PM."Show me a young conservative and I'll show you a man without a heart. The cheapo foam plugs sold at Walmart are rated at -31 db. I've used that type of plug since the early 1980's when I toured with bands. They are very effective outdoors.
Proper insertion is critical for best results. Many never learned how to insert them properly.Comment

What set of in the ear plugs do you use? I'm kinda picky because I have narrow ear canals and sometimes foam ear plugs hurt my ears. I always use earmuffs just to double up too.Comment

Will be looking into these earmuffs. I've found some custom filtered earplugs online with 37 dB NRR that I want to wear under muffs too. These 3M just doesn't work. They just leave me with red and swollen ears or sometimes even infected ears after using them. My ears are just too sensitive. These are my favorite ear muffs for stand and shoot or bench shooting: https://proears.com/product/pro-ears-predator-gold/
They are 26 dB NRR, and extremely comfortable.
I wear these for run and shoot (USPSA) and trap shooting: https://www.goaxil.com/shop/hearing-...-earmuffs/#top
They are 25 dB NRR, quite comfortable, and fit very securely.
When shooting indoors, I always double up with both ear muffs and ear plugs: https://www.amazon.com/3M-1100-Foam-...s%2C230&sr=8-3Comment

Well, it's true. I haven't owned a gun ever.. Sorry if my English is not that good. English is not my first language. What?
Speak up, man!
Best? 3M foam plugs plus amplifying earmuffs. It's almost mandatory when shooting indoors. Sometimes I'll use just one outdoors, but I find that with both, I can hear people's voices better than during regular conversation. Yes, I have hearing damage. I've learned hard lessons.
Foam earplugs hurt my ear since I have narrow and somehow weirdly angled ear canals. What earmuffs do you use?Comment

They sure look good. Will add them to my list. The most Gucci hearing protection headsets are Sordin Supreme PRO X or the Peltor ComTac III Hearing Defender, both are $300 and can be bought from Amazon. The Peltor's are military specification.

Hey guys,
I'll be reading all the comments later. I just have to do something first. Sorry if my English is not perfect. English is not my native language and I find it easier to talk than to type words in.
Thanks! I'll be back.Comment

Welcome to the land of liberty ! I would suggest you join the NRA and the Republican Party. Both are solid on American freedom and we can use your help .
Have you tried the flanged type plugs that are of silicone ? they might work and I dont like foam one either .
I use plugs with electronic types muffs (pretty much junk) but they work with Macs ear seals.
Just asking what other language to you speak ? Having more than one language could be essential in reaching those who need to be reached.
Thank You
