Thank your for your ammo purchase. Would you like to donate a dollar to a democrat politician today?Comment

Hopefully there are as many issues as there have been with registering semi auto rifles with the "bad" features.
While it's an infringement now, hopefully this will eventually get struck down. Pretty frustrating considering how painfully obvious this will do nothing to stop criminals.
Maybe now the FFLs/2A Gun Owners that weren't active to help prevent this from happening will be more active in the future.Comment

I would like to see how much this process will actually cost. It never got implemented in NY State, partly due to cost. How much will CA spend on this bloated Gov process?

Went to my local Big 5 after work. Bought a few boxes of shotgun shell for clay shooting. She asks if I bought a firearm after Jan 2014. I said yes. The reason why she asked is because a guy took a couple of hours to be approved. He wasn't in the system. Mine took a few minutes after running my CDL. Signed the DROS, paid and was outta there in 15 min.Comment

I think that's what others are expressing concern over. California won't spend anything on this. Even Californians as a whole won't.I would like to see how much this process will actually cost. California gun owners and California shooters will pay for it.
As with cigarettes, any initial cost to the State will be offset by increases in the fees charged and, if it does not accomplish the desired goals, fees will be increased until it does. Remember, with the Obamacare decision, it was established that the State can "tax" people for simply existing. Given that California voters approved this...???Comment

Sunofa*****! I was hoping this was not the case, let it become a bloated monstrosity that the Pols would have to contend with. Unfortunately I believe you are right and we will bear the full burden of this mess.I think that's what others are expressing concern over. California won't spend anything on this. Even Californians as a whole won't.

Went to LAX Ammo in OC (Huntington Beach) today, more out of curiosity. I went Saturday to load up on some .22 LR since I can't reload that. Basically, I wanted to see how easy/hard it would be to use my "Federal Limits Apply" ID with my certified Birth Certificate in hand.
The store was very quite, only one customer purchasing a knife. I could tell the Owners and one staff looked tired from their long weekend of ammo sales.
Everyone there was great. Chrissy, one of the owners, showed me how the DOJ groups caliber types for them to report purchased. Basically, anything in .32 cal was all included in on category to shot shells. Some other calibers were all grouped together too. DOJ is NOT trying to breakdown every type of purchase at this time.
They took my BC and "FLA" ID and made a quick copy, entered my ID in the DOJ background check system, in less than a minute I was legally eligible to purchase any caliber I wanted and amount. So after paying the $1 nonrefundable background check, I walked out with 1k CCI .22LR Mimi Mags. Glad to know I can get more ammo but hate the fact that this is the new law too.
Highly recommend LAX Ammo in OC, no BS, nice staff and a sweet old dog that greets customers too.Comment

How the DROS System works
I went to a local range today and one of the range employees, as an experiment, DROSed himself in the morning without buying any ammo just to see if he would qualify.
He did qualify and the DROS printout had a DROS approval number and two date-times stamps. One time stamp was the DROS's initial date-time and the other was the DROS's expire date-time. The DROS is good for 18 hours.
Later in the day he bought one box of .22LR ammo and had to enter in his previous DROS approval number.
After the .22 LR transaction, the previous DROS approval number became invalid for future purchases over the remaining time within the 18 hours period.
It appears that the DROS system is only good for a single purchase transaction with an 18 hour period. If you want to later buy ammo the same day after the first transaction, you would need to re-DROS again.Comment
