Ammo law delayed?

I dreamed of owning a (insert off roster gun here)...
Oh yeah....then the earth splits open with me on one side and the (off roster gun) on the other. Then appeared a large red-glowing pit with gavin newscum, diane frankenstein and governor "brown the drain" at the bottom of it, waving their pitchforks at me.

My guess is, because they no longer sell firearms, and are not yet set up in the DROS entry system. The Ammo check is run through the DES software. Already received a notice from DOJ instructing how to allow employees already allowed to do DROS, to allow ammo checks.Comment

Local Walmart says until 7/7, but it’s because they don’t really know what they’re doing, so it’s a training windo.
My suggestion is to buy what you need 10 years ago...Originally posted by ysr_racerPlease don't bring logic and reason into an interwebs discussion

Interesting. From the Firing-Line Indoor Shooting Ranges...
"Our Burbank and Huntington Beach ranges will be open July 4th from 12noon to 6pm so come make some noise with us before fireworks.
However, due to Los Angeles City law the Northridge Firing-Line will be closed from June 27 through July 4th. Normal business hours will resume July 5.
July 1st will also be the beginning of background checks for ammunition sales in California. Ammunition purchased (and fully expended at) shooting ranges does not require a background check. As such, no Firing-Line ranges will sell ANY ammunition to go beginning July 1 2019. NO AMMUNITION PURCHASED AT OUR RANGES WILL BE ALLOWED TO LEAVE THE PREMISES. If you have any left over when you need to leave we will have a system in place so that you can shoot it on your next visit."Comment

I spoke to the lady at the Walmart in Simi Valley who treat the ammo counter like her own domain. She was very knowledgeable on ammo and the situation.
She said the reason was because they are re-arranging their counters and ammo cases for better viewing, separating the ammo handling from other products, time needed for licensing and training on the new protocols, and they want to set up a better "system" for handling customers on the ammo background checks, and possibly a separate register that is ONLY used for ammo purchases. She also expected there could be delays and service issues with the DOJ site so they thought it best to be out of service to avoid "out of service" delays, to be expected, for sure.
Strange but true.

Just left my local Wally. Still selling ammo, and will continue through 06/30.
The hardware is already physically in place. That includes an additional PC and monitor and a pretty snazzy looking printer. I saw it with my own four eyes, and touched it with my own two paws. Delay?....they are ready. The results?...who knows.
Inventory still looked strong, with the exception of .22LR....still there, but less options.
I asked what the printer is for. He said the buyer has to sign a document. No thanks, I say.Last edited by still919; 06-28-2019, 7:05 PM.Comment

I was there buying ammo last week, decent amount. They had plenty of inventory by the way, and I was the only one at the counter the entire time I was there. I don't think most gun owners know of it, or maybe... don't care since they voted for it, and didn't particiapte in the petition drives to stop it?Did you by chance get an answer out of her as to why they have not been selling ammo at that location for pretty much this entire month of June?
Since June 7 at least -that’s when I noticed -but it could’ve been before then.
I called again today to see if they’re selling ammo but no one answers.
..
In any case, I asked about the sign originally because I was wondering if Ventura County had also passed a ridiculous "no purchase" period ordinance, the way Los Angeles County has it due to (supposedly) preventing people from buying ammo to shoot in the air on July 4th (which, unfortunately, lots of people still do anyway and most gun owners that actually buy ammo don't and never would.)
But no, she said it was to set up the new computers and software needed to run the DOJ background checks, training, new counters, etc. They don't have that now.
However, that got me wondering; if they are set up to do a DOJ CA State Background check anyway, what are the chances that Walmarts in CA may go back to selling long-guns? That would sure be an "unintended consequence" that Gavin didn't think about!
