Now I understand and totally agree this law is incredibly stupid (yet not surprising) but why are people stockpiling ammo?

I just went to my usual ammo shop to pick up some rounds for my rifle and asked the owner what will change. He asked if I already own firearm(s). I confirmed yes I do.

He said, well then as the customer I would pay an additional dollar for a quick mini-dros check before he can finish the transaction and if I haven't gotten into trouble with the law since the last time I bought a gun or ammo. Then all is well and I'm out the door with my ammo.

So if all they're doing is checking my background in a way that gun sellers do when I buy a new firearm. What's the huge incentive to go out and go buy thousands of rounds before July 1st????

      or am I missing something??

Your privacy. If you have no problem with the gov knowing what you buy and how much you buy, then steady as she goes. Its the same reason people stocked up on lowers before the 2014 long gun registration.

              There are many flaw with the "it's only a $1.00", a few of my personal rants;

It never stops, never!!! How many $.01 tax increases that were only supposed to last for 5 years have you see expire and the tax was removed? Not a single one! It'sa $1.00 come July, and I will bet anyone hear that before 5 years are up, it will be at least $5.00 a purchase.

I have every right to purchase ammo, now I have to be subjected to addition back round checks? Myself and my family have nothing to hid, by now the friggen Gov knows how many sheets of TP I use every time I use the john, can they say the same about ever new "citizen" that sneaks into our country?

Who's brother, cousin or uncle needed a job, because he was working to hard (when he/she showed up for work) at the drive thru and is not able to buy a new cell phone every year, so they were hired with our new tax revenue?

WE NEED TO WAKE UP, our right's are being taken piece by piece.
A old joke my young daughter shared it with me, " How do you eat an elephant? one small bit at a time".

Gun owners are being eaten one small bite at a time.

I have often wondered, why gun owners/supports do not stage rallies - are they afraid to be seen?

Maybe the answer lies somewhere within the fact a large majority do not vote *** well.

Not back to the ammo hoarding thread, the only thing I have purchasing regularly are .22 and reloading materials.

I would like to know where the ops picture was taken, I going to move in downstairs and wait for his floor to collapse....lol

I think if we need to explain it to you our explanation won’t mean much. Just consider that they will also be tracking the amount and type of ammunition purchased. What could a government agency do with compiled data like that? Who’s to say it stays $1? Who’s to say you’ll pass a background check? If you don’t pass a check, did you just commit a crime?

I would prefer 1000 in every caliber in reserves and another 1-2k for expendable use at the range. However, that stuff aint cheap.

I keep a few thousand but now that I just moved and lost my own shooting range it will be much less.

Depends on who you ask. Some people think a quarter million rounds of ammo at any given time is a stockpile. I consider that a starter's kit.
