Since it's founding, H&K has gone through several bankrupcies and has come out at the end.

Strange. The German legal record shows no single bankruptcy (known there as Konkurs) of H&K. I can also not find any bankruptcy filing for H&K USA. There have been several changes in control (from the founders to BAE, then to private investors), but no bankruptcy.
According to the German financial press, they are indeed in serious financial trouble at this point.
On the question of high prices, and not serving the wishes of individual customers: the overwhelming part of H&K's production is sold to military and governments. They already sold a large fraction of their sporting and hunting arms production, the former Merkel brand.meowComment

That is interesting. I always likended Glocks to Apple:
First 'successful' polymer firearm line, but nothing innovative since.
Still cost more than the other polymer pistols that came out afterwards, though they aren't any better (and have the worst egonomics).
