    RIP HK

Heckler & Koch In great financial need
    Heckler & Koch,Süddeutsche Zeitung Wirtschaft,Rüstungsindustrie,Wirtschaft,Süddeutsche Zeitung

The first quarterly financial report for 2019 is in, and we conclude that Heckler & Koch continues to fight their red numbers. Despite the increased business and large order intake Heckler & Koch continue to make a loss.

    From the exerpt:

    Translates to:
Sales are up, delivery on sale is down resulting in lower cash flow. Fixed the issue and Q2 will look good.

No reason to think HK is going out of business.

HKs are not made for the poors. The price is fine, as they have already sold the product. Dealers and distributors have already placed orders.

The problem is filling orders so that they can get paid. They have a production problem and cant get cash. They have had to take 80m euro loans several times.

Agreed. Look what happened to Colt. Focus only on gov contracts and it'll bite em soon. HK has made some really awesome and very desirable firearms that they just don't release to civilians. Not to mention all of their stuff is quite overpriced, not to say that it's poor quality, but you can get similar guns usually for hundreds less.

Lower the price on their over priced guns would be a start.
                  Their hk415 needs an update.

As stated above, too much catering to govt contracts and not enough civilian sales, also pricing is ridiculous compared to competition.

It's an iPhone elitist campaign I get it but imo it's not worth the upgrade. People keep buying HK and iPhone so I guess its working .

I've heard that as well, but then we get things like the hk416 in the form of the mr556, so is it as simple as just renaming the gun to make it legal to sell to civilians? On the other hand, they could license out some of their designs to US companies like TommyBuilt, who is currently building UMPs and G36s. An mp7 sbr would be very appealing to many.

Propaganda is strong. Especially for the weak minded imo.

I don't hate HK, but they need some work to do

None of you are reading the Q1 financials, much less the article.

All this BS "they should lower their prices and sell to civilians..."

They are selling to civilians, just not certain models.

WHY WOULD THEY LOWER THEIR PRICES? Their sales are UP. As I have said before, its cashflow and debt that is their problem.

                          Read the actual Q1 report:
Emotional appeal is a marketing tactic and not a foundation for effective argument.

Yes, but by lowering their prices a little and giving us the models people have been wanting for a long time, they could massively increase their sales even more, perhaps enough to justify opening a new factory to keep up with the demand.

Why we can’t get certain HK models like a MP7.
One thing that never fails to amaze me on this blog is that whenever one of our writers (myself included) or a staff member either posts a review or product announcement from Heckler and Koch, said article generates 60 plus comments in a day and of course the inevitable wiseguy chiming in with “because you suck, and we hate you”.The fact is that nothing could be further from the truth, in fact the HK/American consumer relationship is like a long distance affair between two people that is being supervised by two sets of parents, represented here by the German and American governments (albeit you can substitute the American government with most gun friendly nations).Anyways the old “you suck” thing can be dated back to 2007, when a poster on The High Road posted the classic, and admittedly funny “ message from the H&K marketing director“.The message goes on to say how H&K refuses to sell to civilians, despises civilian sales, and more but after combining what I already knew and some exhaustive research I have discovered that nothing could be further than the truth.
