The 64 Python plus some cash.

Same story between two old dudes and a 30 year old Ford Van.
    No dice.
New owner would have been the Hero and he would have ended up with more money not long thereafter.

Fyi, I managed to use my 03 to aquire a 1964 blued 4" Python that's in great condition. I dont show/shoot it often, its just in the safe. The seller was also extremely helpful.

      What would you do ?

Tell him the truth. You lost it in a boating accident. I lost about 90% of what I had in a fire about 20 years ago. Whole house. Just takes time to reacquire stuff.

Sentimental attachment is overrated... It is the memories I cherish.

My mom died in 1998. I miss her every day. She always wanted me to be happy. Nothing would make me happier than owning your Colt Python! I can pay in Montgomery Ward and Circuit City Gift Cards. Do it for my mom.

        Thx,

        Scott

If I sold a heirloom and wanted it back. I would have no problem paying more for it!
Charge a fair market value !

I was recently on the "can I buy this back" end of something similar, though much cheaper. The sale had been been two cheap black powder pistols, $125 shipped. But one of them was sold by mistake, also family reasons. The buyer said he'd sell it back, but at an inflated price and with some terms that seemed odd. I was willing to pay his price, but I questioned the terms. He immediatly backed out and stopped replying to messages.
Obviously he was within his rights to not sell, but the whole thing seemed strange.
