Dry fire Glock.

What is the best way to dry fire my G19 and G17 both Gen 3? Please share your intelligence and knowledge. Thanks.

I use AZOOM Snap Caps for SAFETY purposes. You are forced to clear the chamber and magazine. This improves safety. They are not really needed, though you can eventually damage the breech face from the slamming (saw pix of this but it takes a long time).

I shattered a modern S&W 625’s pin by dry firing and carried it for a day before noticing it no longer worked. This occurred after several hundred to a few thousand dry fires in that gun. It wasn’t much compared to what I did with SIGs and Glocks.

Absolutely no doubt the gun is unloaded and no way to chamber a live round.

Other than that? Rack, holster, draw, sight alignment/picture, trigger press sand then repeat.

something to think about when buying a used Glock , the previous owner may have spent hours dry firing and it could have damage

thats why I rather pay a little more for a brand new Glock.

a lot of people insist it does no harm and they have been dry firing their Glock for 30 years, etc.

Glock recommends using snap caps. I use them.

Not needing a mag to dry fire is one of the things I like about my glock.

I don't spend a lot of time on it, only when practice drawing from a new carry position. I do need to get some dummy rounds though, to help my kiddo practice clearing jams.

A little pricey. Not having to pull the slide back for each practice shot makes a ton of difference in my dry fire results.

Never used snap caps because it makes dry firing too slow. Those rimless ones are genius though.

I don't always hold position and aim when I am dry firing. I do plenty of that but I will often just dry fire while sitting on the couch while watching a tv show or something. I find I still get some value in disconnecting my flinch reflexes from the action of the trigger breaking. YMMV. Make sure to do weak hand too!
