Owning two of the same gun

After i nearly forked over more money for a 2nd springfield tactical operator with the full length dust cover/rail, it dawned on me that this gun would just sit in my safe unfired, while my original was going to the range, my original is in mint but used condition and the one i was about to buy was brand new.

And it costs $380 more than my used one

The fact that these operators are no longer made was the very reason as to why i had to have another, on hand or so it seemed at the time.

Then good or bad judgement intervened and i told the FFL guy i would have to go away and think about it.

SO -

How many here own 2 or more of the same identical handgun in the same caliber.

Whats your reasoning to do so

- collector

- they discontinued that gun so you have an extra for backup.

- ones a shooter and the 2nd one is a safe queen.

- just because you can

- because moneys no object.

-your wife or girlfriend, will never figure it out.

- because of Obama

- You had a fever

Or some reason i left out - please explain.

And people who own one or more Colt Pythons to describe why they own them are exempt from answering as thats just totally understandable, that they would own more than one.

Where is this gun? I still don't have one yet.

If the gun were a collector AND if I had the money then I would have two of the same gun.

I don't think I'd buy two TRP Operators though.

I'm thinking about getting into that cowboy style shooting. If I do, I may get a couple of matching single action revolvers in 45LC

I haven't mastered the ability to run up the side of falls returning in a back flip from the ceiling while all the time hitting my target.

I have multiple P225's and P226's. I bought them the P225's because they were at one point 'rare'. The P226's are West German manufacture and are no longer made via stamping.

I managed to get them at good prices in great conditions. It was more a concern with them being discontinued than 'collecting'.

I've got a few pairs. I just parted with an extra Kimber Pro CDPII so, now I've only got one of those.

I've got 2 Mini 14s. That way when the zombies attack there are enough guns to go around Actually, I bought two of the NRA ones so each kid can have their own some day.

I've got 2 STI open guns in 9mm. One is set up to shoot light loads and the other not so light

I vowed never again to have a gun in the collection I would not shoot. No safe queens.

So I'd probably not buy it if I knew I was not going shoot it.

I'd have 2 G19s (preferable one with the OD frame and one in black) I'd set them up identically and shoot them roughtly equally.

The idea being that Either/or is the primary gun and should the very unlikely shooting happen I still have one after they confiscate the one that was used. (assuming I don't get charged with murder etc) Or should one break I have a spare while parts are ordered (not a big worry either) or should one get lost/stolen Hopefully the other didn't

I hate getting pairs of guns that are identical. It just bugs me , at one point i had two CETME'S..but for what ? I just tradded one for something that i dint have. I mean i dont mind having diffrent types of ak's..as long as they are from diffretn countries
