    Springfield FBI Professional Recoil

    Hi guys,

Can somebody who has experience with the NON railed SA Professional share their thoughts on felt recoil in this fun? There is a lot of info on this firearm but I just can’t find anything regarding this. This gun is 36oz, so 6oz lighter than TRP at 42oz which I shot. My concern is whether it will have much more felt recoil in the non railed version. Of course, I can’t try it before I buy. Thank you!

Shoot any basic non-railed 1911 to get a feel for the recoil?

        I have an FBI Pro...it recoils like a 1911.

My Glock 31 and 32 have more recoil, and my wife’s favorite gun to shoot is the 1911 if that helps.

I have both the railed and non-railed professionals. I notice no significant different recoil impulse in the two pistols.

              Hope that helps.

Thank you everyone for your input!

EMR, thanks for offer!! Unfortunately, I am a bit too far...

My only concern is that it feels lighter (and it is by 6 oz) than the TRP, which I shot and had no problem with, and I just wasn't sure how much this lightness would contribute to recoil and muzzle flip as this gun will be primarily for the range. It sounds like it is not an issue though...

A railed SA Pro and a non railed one recoil very much the same as any other gov sized 1911. If you hear anything about a recoil difference, it is either due to different ammo or in the shooter's mind.

An all stainless 1911 weighs a good several ounces more than an identical 1911 made of carbon steel but it is hard to feel any difference in recoil.

If my SA mil spec bothers me I'll shoot the target 9mm.

I can't say I notice 1911 recoil, rail or no.
