I'd actually really like to do this with my 1911, but I feel like it would be too much work to put a 9mm or 38 super upper on my 45.

Usually more expensive to build a slide than buy a complete gun. Especially Glocks, where you can buy a G17 or G19 with a GSSF coupon for $425.00

I’m of the, “more guns, less accessories” camp - polish a Glock up all you want, it ain’t gonna make me a better shot

Pretty badass with the optic plate I gotta say!

Legend says if you polish a glock enough, it becomes a 1911!

Answer to the title of this thread:

No, because I can afford buying multiple full fledged firearms instead.

Not trying to hijack this thread....but it can be done...

I’ll be the first to admit I got lucky with mine.

I was going to clean 2 of mine last week. A Dan Wesson CCO .45 and Dan Wesson Guardian 9mm/.38S, and I thought, why not see if the slides will interchange... Perfect fit.......
Both of the Dan Wesson’s have a ramped barrel.

Guardian with complete CCO top end and CCO with complete Guardian top end

Even the slide to ejector was a decent fit...

It can also be done with a standard barrel. I converted my ATI FX45K from .45 to 9mm a few years ago. Again, I’ll admit I got lucky. The Remsport 9mm slide fit the frame without any fitting, so I can easily switch back to .45 if I want to without worrying about a sloppy fit

You really are lucky! I was under the impression that the ejector had to be swapped if going from 45 to 9mm?

I have extra slides and barrels for several of my handguns. Some as other caliber conversions, some as future replacement parts because the price was right at the time.

                              But

Basically they all sit in a drawer and hold a cabinet down.

We already have the only reasonable Gun Control we need, It's called the Second Amendment and it's the government it controls.
