This is false. I had an unpaid ticket go 1 year before I realized it and was able to purchase/sell many firearms within that year.

I was denied for my first purchase. No reason was given. Then I went to renew my car insurance before my DOJ letter came...and it said i was unlicensed. I'd turn my renewal in, they'd cashed the check and sent me the new licensed...and then an error happened showing that I hadn't actually paid and they cancelled my license. I went down to the dmv with the cancelled check and straighted it out. My next purchase went through without a hitch. the FFL was not told it was the DMV.

What was the denial reason listed in your letter from DOJ?

            This 100%.

And keep in mind 49 other states this wont come up as a "DMV" anything as it does not apply and they dont care about things like this and its none of the DMVs business what you can and cannot purchase. Thats 50 state wide.

Without an actual reason from DOJ, everything is speculation. You could have a name that is identical to a denied person. It happens. Call DOJ and see if you can get an answer.
