Spreading FUD is not something that should be supported. He's not our "daddy" his job is not to treat more knowledgeable gun owners as his children. Inspecting people's firearms for "compliance" and harassing people for exercising their natural human right is supporting oppression. Last thing we need is more lib doj stormtroopers and oppressors.

You cannot discuss or have a conversation with these types of people. A true 2A supporter would ask for some documentation (code) to read and follow-up on.

Just ask a gun attorney to tag along for some shooting practice and let the idiot spout off without knowing who he is spouting off to. Might get him a few dozen lawsuits very quickly and out of business even faster. The scary part is you never know what is going to be legal from trip to trip even though you know you are compliant and fighting with this guy is not worth it. Not even cops or a DOJ agent on site would want to argue with a lawyer standing there once he announces who he is. I have dealt with idiots like this in Northern california and found out it is smarter just to let them open their mouths and prove just how dumb they are.

I'll take a wild guess and say you don't reload. For those of us that do, the brass case, as I'm sure your must be aware, represents a major component cost in the assembly of ammunition. Being prohibited from picking up my own brass would absolutely be a deal killer for me.

I'm not sure why anyone would prohibit the use of steel cased ammunition. Maybe those spent steel cases foul the treasure trove of brass that is swept up at the end of the day to be reloaded for resale or sold as (valuable) scrap metal.

As I see it, there are very few guns that are 100% illegal. Even in commiefornia, there are exemptions for certain people, ways to get off roster guns, grandfathering in of mags, registration for certain types of rifles but not for others, etc. something could be totally legal for you to own, but not for me.

Given how confusing our gun laws are, I think it would be wise for a range officer to just keep their mouth shut. Make sure everyone is being safe and respectful of each other, but not worry about how/when someone acquired a mag or whether or not they properly registered their bbraw or of a grip fin is needed or whatever.

If they really want to cover their butts, post a sign that says something to the effect of “you are responsible for knowing the legalities of your equipment. We are not lawyers and will not be held responsible for any issues that arise from your possession of illegal equipment”

Some don't allow aluminum either. And it's absolutely because the range has a side business selling, trading or reloading the brass and doesn't want to sort it. (I am talking about the cases, assume the projectiles are copper/lead only).

In any case, I think it's scummy. And as much as we all love to give free passes to gun stores/ranges because of the political climate in California, they need to be called out.

Let's be fair about one thing, there is a legitimate reason to not allow steel case* ammo in indoor ranges. Unburnt powder collects at the backstop, and steel strikes can start a fire, or do damage to the backstop itself.

*The easiest and quickest way to check is with a magnet... which will catch steel in the bullet, but false positive on a steel case with a pure lead-copper bullet. Which sucks, but how do you figure out if its a false positive without wasting a ton of time?

I do reload. And if I want to shoot after dark, by myself within 5 mins from my house, I use his range. And I follow his rules... because its his shop
