ND plain and simple. You were NEGLIGENT when you used live ammo to test your feeding. Also, once the ringing in your ears stop, you have permanently lost a portion of your hearing. You may never notice it but, it's gone. Ask your ear nose and throat MD about it.NRA Certified Pistol, Rifle, Shotgun and Metallic Cartridge Reloading Instructor

A lesson all should pay attention to when:
1. Fondling your weapon with live ammo at your home, not at a range.
2. Buying used guns, take it to a gun smith first BEFORE operating.
3. Repeat steps 1 and 2.
So, when are you going to make another trade?Comment

Thanks for sharing, and I'm going to sound like a parrot and repeat myself and several in this thread -
Please please please, people, once again, do not chamber live rounds at home for testing purposes. Yes, those of you who do home defense and CCW will do this. Fine. But several on this board admit to function testing with reloads and live ammo. WHY? I still don't get it.
Anyway, to the OP, glad you're safe, and yes, lesson learned I am sure.

I think it was AD but on the verge of ND. Not because of simply using live rounds but for doing so with a weapons that was malfunctioning.
Thanks for sharing.Insert something clever here.Comment

Glockman I posted both here and the THR at basicaly the same time.Comment

What's the difference between loading and chambering? As many of us said above, there are legitimate reasons to load live rounds in our house, and if it had gone off during loading, it could be considered an AD.
But since you were negiligently chambering the handgun with live rounds when there was not a valid reason to do so, it makes it an ND.Comment

She really is a great girl Roger.
She said I should sell that gun because it now has "Bad karma". I told her I would never sell a gun that I didn't know was 100 percent mechanically sound to any other person, it goes against the rules of the gun community.
Also the gun cost 500, the repairs and extra work totalled 300, so I refuse to give up on the gun until it is running like a champion, the I might CONSIDER selling it, maybe, a little.........probably not.Comment

Thanks to the OP for showing everyone who reads why we have snap caps only at our work benches.
I am very happy for you that you are ok and no po-po to explain the ND too!

Case gages are a great and inexpensive tool for reloaders, then you don't need to try out live reloads at home, just verify them in the case gage, and save the testing for the range."Bruen, the Bruen opinion, I believe, discarded the intermediate scrutiny test that I also thought was not very useful; and has, instead, replaced it with a text history and tradition test."
