    KCI Mags Good or Bad???

To anyone who has experience with KCI mags:

During the slight window of freedom in CA last week, I was able to order some 10+ mags. However, I was late to the game and was only able to really order mags from a Korean manufacturer, KCI. The reviews online looked positive but I'm running into some issues.

    1. I bought the KCI 100 round drum for the AR15. Its covered in a graphite lubricant but it is a very tight squeeze in my AR. So much so that I have to bang it with my fist just to eject it. Is this normal?

    2. I bought two 50 round glock mags. For some reason, I received two different models: http://www.kcimags.com/glock-magazin...50-round-drum/ and https://www.preppergunshop.com/kci-9...17-18-19-26-34

Not sure why they are different but I don't really care. I haven't had a had a chance to test these yet (I don't currently own a glock) but the material on these feels very cheap. That goes for all of them.

Has anyone had any experience shooting these before? I haven't been able to test them at the range yet but if they are cheap/crappy, I want to return them before its too late. Thanks

KCI mags should generally be avoided, as they tend to be out of spec and have function problems. I would rate them slightly below Promag, if thats even possible.

Unfortunately, they are the easiest to find and are cheap, so people buy a lot of them. You might get lucky and get some that work well from time to time, but usually people end up ditching them and go buy something better.

1st gen vs. 2nd gen maybe? Not familiar w/ the glock drums. 2nd gen 100rd drum has re-enforced (steel) feed lips, (graphite/lube) not necessary.....
youtube has some vids on them.....

Aren't these (KCI) made for the Korean army?

most reviews say KCI magazine springs are weak.

i have no experience with the drum mags. my buddy did buy their 50rd drum for the ar15. but he also hasn't taken it out to the range yet.

i bought mp5 mags, and their only complaint was the spring, so i will just buy some wolff springs for them which solves that issue. (still cheaper overall than all other mp5 mags available)

It sounds like the AR15 100 round drum is ou of spec then right? I don't have much experience with drums (thanks CA) so for all I know this could be normal? Maybe it's just my lower?

Some of their mags are decent while other are pretty much junk.
Their ak mags seem alright as well as their mp5 mags but everything else I've seen and tried has been junk

This is what I'm afraid of. I also have their AK drum and it fits like a charm. Still haven't had a chance to test with live ammunition but it seems better built than the others. Is there anyway to modify these without ruining them?

The kci 100rd drum is a tight fit is some ar rifles. In my rifle I have to literally put my foot on it to get it out but in my buddies spikes tactical it inserts and ejects with no problem. Seems to me that it fits like a normal mag on some and a super tight fit on others that's why I just went ahead and ordered a few beta c mags. But the kci drums dont seem to jam though. I ran it in my rifle and it went through the whole mag without jamming. Now those glock drums those are pretty much garbage and complete jammers

I've had a few (glock - standard) that work fine. They're don't drop free, but for the range they are perfectly acceptable.

I've avoided all their drums based on reputation.

The feed lip is plastic and it's a top loader, you must be patient when using.

since you already bought them, shoot them first, a few times, then decide for yourself. There are always mods you can do to make them perform the way you want. I understand the panic buying, but next time do a cursory search to see what they're all about.

I buy KCI 10 rd AK mags. They are good to go. I don't know anything about any others they make.

Only KCI mags I have are for Glocks. I have a lot of them, standard capacity G22, G17, G23, G19. Also the 9mm 33 rd and 30 round 40cal, they all work fine even the extended ones I’ve used them in my Ruger PCC. A few of the G22 and G17 will not drop free, but most of them will. But they are what they are, low cost range mags, use accordingly.

I thought about buying KCI, but they are below my standards, I rather pay more for a OEM factory magazine, they need to be more reliable than a low cost range mag, Im careful about buying aftermarket mags

                            I rather have 3 - 4 factory mags than a dozen KCI

I’ve owned some of the Korean AK mags. Good enough, but as others mentioned they’ve got weak springs. Had some issues with feeding in a few rifles, so I sold them.
