    1. Are there any hidden fees other than the $50 background check when someone transfers a membership to me?
    2. Their website says you get guns at cost and ammo at 20% over cost, is that legit and does it transfer with the membership? Also says unlimited stay at the Front Sight resort?
    3. How's the training quality? I assume it's not the best, but is it worth doing?
    4. How does transferring the membership work? I'd be doing a trade for it and am a little weary of the details.
I got memberships (5 of them through a Calgunner as well and took the class few years back. There are no hidden charges but bunch of SPAM emails and phone calls!!!!! This guy like to send emails daily and phone calls every few days so make sure to use a throw away email or google phone number.

In regards to perks, I never used them. I got ammo from out town vendor and used them during the course. Never bought guns from them either since it is a pain (in my opinion) to do FFL Transfer, pay the local FFL for FFL transfer, then DROS plus tax (you may save few bucks for all those troubles)

Training was fun but when I was there, it was pouring rain and the training continued. Rain or Shine.

Just remember to use a throw away email to register and make sure to block the almost daily SPAM calls.

Wife and I have taken about 70 classes at FS, each so far. Been members for a long time. We have watched it grow from 6-10 people at FS on a weekend to HUNDREDS. People always talk negatively about it, but it still grows and gets busier and busier. The classes were indeed harder, and have gotten easier, but in the old days most FS Members were gun enthusiasts, as time went on more people new to shooting joined, so they had to slow down.

Is FS worth it, yes. There's nothing out there that can compete at that price point. Are there better places, of course, are there worse, yes. But both will cost a lot more.

Believe that? When you sell someone something with promises of a full resort, homes sites, etc. and tell them that the prices will only be higher later, then eventually sell them for very little, that is a scam. This is one way that scammers operate.

You say you didn't know. Would you have supported these scammers if you did know?
You have never seen me claim that.
If i had known about a scam there is a good chance i would not have taken the risk. I dont have money to throw away.
I personally would not have paid even $1000 for what they were "promising" on the website.
Anybody who would pay 50k as you say, for nothing but promises - i am not sure what to say about them. Buyer beware?
I guess i feel bad for them.
I paid my $250 figuring if it was a big scam i could afford to lose 250, but also figured 4 days of training for 250 was hard to pass up.
Call me the bad guy, i dont care, but i got a deal that seemed fair to me. Wasnt concerned about hotels and condos being built. Even if i never go back I 100% got my moneys worth.

I think my membership number is under 200 with front sight

Yes I paid a lot for it back then

It was strong training back then and was a bargain vs other schools

I got a ton of value from the membership and declined the class action stuff as I did not feel ripped off.

4 day handgun was 10 hours a day
Lectures during each meal- no sales pitches
4 day handgun included night shooting
Presentations from right left and rear- yes on skills test too
Skill test shooting went back to 25 yards
Turning targets- no shots were overtime as the target was gone

              DG was tough

The advanced hand gun, advanced shotgun with Kirby was awesome. Many of the advanced shotgun classes were 4-10 students
Kirby said - we have 1 relay. Do you want downtime or to shoot more.
We opted to shoot more. Off to Walmart. I think we shot 300 slug, 400 buck and 700 bird and about 250 handgun for transition drills.

As Front Sight has softened the training, they have really reached the average gun owner.

Have you been to a cal guns meet up for a shoot? More people here need to get training IMO
Rule 1- ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED

Rule 2 -NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO DESTROY (including your hands and legs)

Rule 3 -KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET

Rule 4 -BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET AND WHAT IS BEYOND IT
              (thanks to Jeff Cooper)

                I forgot about Kirby.

Also night shoots around 4th July stated when sun went down, and Front Sight was all blacked out. Before that, it was a party.

Two memorable classes. The first was a Handgun Master Prep class. We had two student. Never shot that much in my life. By noon day four, neither one of us could do anything with speed any longer. Our hands wouldn't work. Focused on accuracy the rest of the day.

The other is we had a tactical handgun class and a handgun skill builder class. Between the two classes, we had 5 students. Brad sat us all down and asked what we were hoping to get out of the class. He then promised to get it all done and combined the classes. We covered both classes and more . . . great fun.
