So I’ve been a locksmith for 10 years - There is no real security. No matter what you spend. And I try to not be fearful about things I can’t control.

I’m looking to make sure wayward teenagers or crackheads can’t get it done with a screw driver or carry it off. But mainly if something does happen I want California to say I reasonable tried to secure my guns. This seems like the kinda state that’d try to blame me if someone stole them and hurt someone.

If they find out you will lose your security deposit.

I like my cheapo 8-gun Stack On. It's Cali DOJ approved and is all the weight I can hump into my house. I tucked it away and bolted it down. I also modified it with magnetic shelves, basket and magazine mounts so I can keep reconfiguring it.

Get a locking file cabinet. Good camo for handguns. Put your files in the front, guns in the back/bottom of the drawers. If anyone breaks the lock all they will see is the paper.

I had one of those small Stack-Ons. It had shelves also, and I put my handguns into zippered cases. I kept at least a dozen handguns in it. It also had pegboard holes in the door and I had 6 or 8 handgun holders that hung from the pegboard holes.

You can make it harder to carry off by storing full ammo cans in the bottom. I think mine held 5 or 6 50 cal cans. They have holes in the back. I put one lag screw into a wall stud from inside the cabinet, and unless you knew better, it felt solidly mounted like it was bolted to the floor. A single screw hole can be easily spackled when you move.
