Precisely. I was more worried about the spring being different since the magazine itself wasn't even marked to ever be a 17 rounder.

Not aware of this trick. It sounds like I am trying to just even out the indent? It will obviously never be perfect since it is stretched now.

Drilling with a good bit is probably easier and faster.

Just for fun, you could try knocking out the indentation from the inside.

Support the mag in a vise so you don't crush it.
Put a socket on an extension, insert in mag to indent, whack with hammer.

Not sure if it'd work, I've only done it to straighten an ak mag. It is thin sheet metal though and would probably work.

The indent on an AK mag is outside of the mag well; in a pistol, the indent is inside the mag well and anything other than completely flat sides will hang the mag in the well or hinder the movement of the follower inside the mag, or both. Drill or Dremel it out.
