Great post OP. My only question is...source for us having depleted the mini-14 magazines for the entire country?

I would absolutely LOVE to see an /r/dataisbeautiful post for this last several days with regard to magazines, logistics from UPS, DHL, FedEx, USPS, distribution centers, manufacturers, etc...

It's a head vs heart proposition. Absolutely, yep, 100% understand that the logistical cluster**** that has occurred in the past five days is gargantuan in size. Many of these stores must feel like they're a tiny rowboat why just happened to show up as the Titanic was going down and seeing a thousand people swimming straight for them. I think everyone here knows that, and appreciates what the non-corporate stores are going through.

The flip side of that is that the current ruling may go away any day now which would leave a lot of people who have already paid for their slice of the standard capacity pie in limbo - and likely SOL. (They'll get their money back eventually, but could take a while and prove an absolute nightmare for these stores struggling to keep up, but if the door slams shut on orders that haven't shipped, then they ain't gonna ship.) So think its legitimate for those who have ordered, been given some sort of "its shipped!" message, but are still in limbo without a tracking number or a tracking number that indicates their package is still sitting in a warehouse yet to be picked up to be feeling a certain level of anxiety.

I just received an e-mail from Ruger, partial quote from Chris Kilroy, President and CEO "As of yesterday, we have shipped all of our current inventory of these products to distributors to satisfy this demand". The products of which he speaks are Ruger factory magazines in standard capacities, ie over 10 rounds.

As to the original OP remarks. My first order was placed on Saturday, credit card cleared Sunday. I placed other orders afterwards with other firms. I've already received two shipments, one more tomorrow, another next week, one still outstanding TBD that I placed yesterday. That original order, which covered my most used 7 firearms, still is shown as in fulfillment.. Meanwhile, nearly every item on that order, shown as in-stock on their website Saturday, is now clearly out of stock, unavailable to reorder.

I felt completely justified in sending a polite inquiry to them via their 'contact us' form. And based on their very understanding response, they felt the inquiry, and the manner in which it was written, was quite justified also. Both I and the vendor may lose out because we both trusted their 'live' inventory system, which wasn't live at all, as it turns out.

No sensitive body parts were harmed or twisted during any of the above actions, by the way.

It's these Millennials....they get their panties slightly twisted and they jump on the Interwebs to flame every vendor out there from the comfort of their mother's basement all while sipping 5 Hour Energy and Low T supplements.

OP...outstanding summary of the real world. Thanks for posting.

Thanks for saying this as I've been close to going off on some people. The majority or retailers are small and have small warehouses and small staff size

Let's assume one person can pack one order a min. That's 60/hr and 480/day (no lunch or breaks). If one person is tied up on the phone all day handling whiners, all callers just screwed over 480 customers. And multiply that by a few dozen diff retailers... that's a LOT of unprocessed orders because you just couldn't wait

We all knew that a stay COULD happen and we'd be out on our order, but that's a risk we took. Aggravating? Yes. The retailer's fault? No. Blame politicians

20 YEARS of backorders are filing through only a couple of days that even the MAJOR retailers can't handle

I do sympathize with those who made orders that weren't actually in stock. A note should've been made next to the pricing to be more transparent to the consumer, but again, these small retailers are doing as much as they can with the flood

I do feel that the Court handed such a well stated butt-whoopin' that a stay is going to be a while and we have a bigger window than we thought. I'd say keep the orders flowing though

Lol, I got you. Was just making a point that callers could screw over a lot of people

That t-shirt listed above will probably need to be changed for some of us to read

"I tried to participate in the Million Mag March, and all I got was this t-shirt"

Benitez just issued a stay, effective 5PM tomorrow.
