Certain Norinco types, the like picture provided are banned by name. Like he Type D with the detachable mag and the sporter version with thunbhole stock if I can remember correctly. I was able to purchase and dros the shortened Norinco paratrooper. Just look for a nice russian Tula or a Yugoslavian. Honey Badger in San Diego has a nice Yugo hanging on their wall currently. I also saw a nice Tula with red furniture on the Poway Weapons and Gear wall last year.

That is a model "D" SKS. I had one but had to sell it when I moved here from Tennesse.

Not sure I can understand that though. We can shoot 30 rounders + in feature-less semi autos,
But if its a fixed mag in a sks..it cant be more then 20? The sks is say a factory 26 chinese C&R in original Woodstock/no pistol grips or muzzle devices?Beans and BulletsComment

The laws regarding the SKS is a complicated story, but suffice it to say that the SKS can really only be used with its original 10rd fixed mag and any change from that triggers AW laws.Comment
