I got it, haven't read it - assumed more fund raising.
If they really are that short of cash they need to cut salaries of people like Wayne
oh and stop wasting so much money on mailing out begging letters - get's old really quick

rather like, and I think Larry Pratt did a great job taking down that

about Gun Control cannot be emphasized enough. I think a lot of
the people running it are dedicated patriots, as well as the
      membership.

My decision to support the NRA / NRA-ILA rather than GOA has to
do with relative effectiveness of the two organizations.

The NRA played a significant part in electing Trump, which Love him
or Hate him, was a Much Better Choice than Anti-2A Hillary, and
which has resulted in SCOTUS being replenished with Pro-2A Justices,
the other courts being stocked with Constitutionalists Judges, and
the Liberal Anti-2A 9th Circus starting to be rebalanced with more
Judges that will support the Constitution rather than some
      Leftist Ideology.

      Gun Owners of America (GOA)
Membership now estimated at 2 Million (Up from previous 650,000+)

But they just don't get the same level of results that the NRA / NRA-ILA
does in the Political and Legal Arenas, which is partly because they
simply don't have the political clout of the NRA:

6 to 6.5 MILLION NRA Members Versus 2 Million GOA Members.
(Plus 14 Million Gun Owners Support the NRA, in a Pew Research Study)

Politicians are Acutely Aware of these numbers, and act accordingly.

So we need to prepare Right Now for the 2020 Elections, and if we are
to Win It, we need to support, in General Terms:

      NRA / NRA-ILA
      President Trump
      Republican Party

Any other combination will only give us a "Feel Good, Pyrrhic Victory":

"I voted for that Pro-2A Libertarian Party Guy for President ! "

Which ignores the history that no 3rd Party has Ever elected a President.
Theodore Roosevelt came the closest, with 27%, btw.

Republicans are not perfect, but at this moment in Time, they are the
Only Viable Choice we have, as is Trump. And the NRA was instrumental
in getting Trump into the Presidency:

The NRA Placed Big Bets on the 2016 Election,
and Won Almost All of Them
Open Secrets Center for Responsive Politics. November 9, 2016
      https://www.opensecrets.org/news/201...t-all-of-them/

      BEGIN QUOTE:
. Over the three prior election cycles, the group disbursed $1 million
dollars or more toward 14 congressional races and achieved its desired
outcome 11 times. To help Republicans win back the Senate in 2014, it
spent $20.6 million dollars on five key races in the upper chamber, and
in each of them, its preferred candidate won.

      END QUOTE.

The NRA successfully analyzed the 2016 Election, and helped Trump
Win in Key Swing States. Its not the amount of money spent, its
HOW you apply it, and the NRA successfully concentrated its clout
in those key states. Plus, the NRA is successful at getting out the
vote, and informing Gun Owners & NRA Members WHO to vote for:

      New York Times. 2/24/2018
      https://www.nytimes.com/2018/02/24/u...l-florida.html
      BEGIN QUOTE:

"Far more than any check the N.R.A. could write, it is this mobilization
operation that has made the organization such a challenging adversary
for Democrats and gun control advocates
      ."

      END QUOTE.

Bottom Line, try to make your choices of who most to support
with your Hard Earned Cash with as much knowledge as possible.

You want to Maximize your donations to have the greatest effect
in Defending the 2A from the Anti-2A Zealots Aligned against us.

I hear you and you make good points, really good points. Set Trump and all the good he's done with the judiciary aside for now, the flip side is they get the right politicians elected but then they guide them down the wrong path full of concessions and acquiescing our gun rights. If we could get that same time of clout with a group that will not back down politicians will know that our gun rights are non negotiable and if they want that political money and our support they need to stand firm.
I'm more than happy to give credit where it's due and the NRA did a great job of getting Trump elected and in turn we got a huge bump in the judiciary at every level. But if we got the GOA membership up they could do the same with their clout, these groups stregnth come from us and our numbers. I'm not making light if what the NRA did but if we could get the membership level of the GOA up to what the NRA is we would have an even stronger foot to stand on.
Don't leave the NRA, but if you like the GOAs message, membership is $20 a year. They're known in Congress, growing rapidly, no compromise, and definitely fight for us.

I'm not adverse to supporting both.

I will be donating to GOA specifically to help support their lawsuit:

        Unconstitutional Bump Stock Ban

        Ammoland. Dec 26, 2018
Gun Owners of America (GOA) and its Foundation (GOF) filed suit today against the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives (ATF) for their regulations on bump stocks.

I'm sure this was a mass mailer that was sent to every member. I don't know if this letter is just a marketing effort to raise more funds or if it's for real. The 4 page letter sounds pretty scary until it gets to the part that he asks for donations. I hope I'm wrong thinking that they are resorting to this type of thing to just raise money but if it's for real, us gun owners should start worrying what's next. This could be the start of a very serious move on the part of our government.
Anyone out there know anything about this??

I would contact the NRA and ask them. These days that letter can be bogus in an effort to get to you!!!

That's the same question that both Sacramento and Washington D.C. Anti-2nd Amendment legislators would ask, and within that, lies the answer.

However, I'm quite sure they have heard of the NRA.
