So they are not a good guy, small FFL that is just basing bad policy on CA DOJ deception?

I have never been to any FFL's down there, so I have zero knowledge of any of them.

I have two small FFL'S near me, one releases on undetermined, the other doesn't; the one that doesn't gets reminded, every time I've been shopping for something, that they won't get my business because of their policy.

No. You can read this to start, and then Google "Armatix" and "Oaktree" for further information on what Oaktree has done for our 2nd Amendment rights. https://www.nytimes.com/2014/04/28/u...gun-lobby.html

Read that when I searched the photo you posted.

I stand corrected, go ahead and burn them at the stake.

When I have listed firearms for sale I always specify FFLs that I would meet at because I had good experiences with them. Out of 5 FFLs I listed,Oaktree is the only one that so far is saying they will not release on a undetermined. At least I haven't had to abandon the other shops I frequent.

Nothing yet, though I have had a lot of emails going back and forth to a customer support person at Oaktree. I was able to get them to submit the proper Mfg. of the rifle and can only hope that will help. It does look like it will be difficult if it goes to "undetermined "

I have been doing a lot of reading of older posts in the FFL forums and found one that described a 1 in 30 issue on PPTs. They described issues if the PPT buyer had a dros started elsewhere and then started one in L.A. resulting with it being put into the 1 in 30 category causing issues. Does anyone have info on this?

It is my understanding that may be an issue. Because CITY OF LA has separate laws on transfers.

QUESTION...............is this relevant in your instance?

Oak Tree is in Newhall, which is part of the City of Santa Clarita, not LA.

I did a PPT on an AK the Saturday before this m1. I started a pistol just after the m1 which I pick up today. So ,this would be a LA city issue and not county?

                      LA CITY...........yes.

                      Not LA Cnty.

1 in 30 applies to handguns, not long guns, PPTs are exempt.

I do not know if the "City" ordinance applies to Long Guns or not.

                        Update.....
After numerous emails with Oaktree's customer service, compliance person etc. I was told no less than 4 times that if it went to "undetermined " they might have to turn it over to LE. The seller and I went down this morning and canceled the Dros and subsequently went to a FFL that will deliver on a undetermined if it happened again and re-Dros'd it. There was just too much risk involved leaving it there with the possibility of them turning it over to P.D./LE. for something less that it being stolen . I guess we will find out soon if it was the right choice but with everything I had been told I didn't feel I had many choices. In the meantime I have taken possession of firearms that were Dros'd before and after the M1 debacle. We were also able to look under the sight and confirm the manufacture which they incorrectly listed on the first Dros.

Obvious that the weenies at Oak Tree are not familiar with the laws that their business operates under. And then base "POLICY" on ignorant uninformed premise.

No way in hell would they be required to turn over to LE, even considering their stupid 'EXTRA LEGAL" policy regarding undetermined. That is only after they make concerted effort to return firearm to seller. And fail to do so.

If they [1]...refused to deliver on undetermined, and then [2]...turned firearm over to LE, on basis of their extra legal policy. That would be definitive basis for a civil suit on 2 different grounds.

They are CG advertisers, they should become active members. Maybe they would learn enough to stay out of court. And become a reputable business.

Finally picked up the m1 carbine today. Cancelling the Dros at OAKTREE because of their policy of never releasing on a "undetermined " and taking it to a quality FFL turned out to be the right choice . I guess I will never know why it went to delayed immediately after starting the original dros at Oaktree but it all turned out well. Thank you to all that helped with advise.

                                Outstanding!

Good choice to cancel and re-DROS at a reputable FFL.

Lesson learned for all . . . inquire as to whether the dealer will release on "undetermined" before you start the DROS. If they say no, . . . walk away.

Delays are more common than many people realize, and can happen for lots of reasons unrelated to the buyer. The problem is that it often takes longer than 30 days for CADOJ to sort the issue out. At 30 days, they just stop trying.
