    Ridiculous guns

So since my divorce and subsequent financial court ruling, still worth it by the way!, I've had to be a little more choosy about gun purchases. I've gotten back to a decent sub base of guns and I was looking at it and thought to myself Damn this is a sensible little start to a collection. Mind you I'm not a collector I'm a shooter. Everything has somewhat of a purpose. But F that, every collection should have something stupid right? I'm kinda getting a hankering for something dumb with a lot of recoil. We had a good year last year in my branch and we're set to get a bonus at the end of this month. Obviously I have other things I'll do with the majority but I'm giving myself maybe up to 1k or so to have fun with and get a silly gun.

    What I have

-Kahr p9-Compact 9mm, shoots amazingly, packable. Great gun love it.
-Colt Commander 45acp, Great gun again, lots of sentimental value, won't get rid of it.
-S&W 686-3 Classic Hunter 357 6" barrel unfluted cylinder-Again, lots of sentimental value in this one and something I won't ever get rid of
-AR pattern rifle-16" barrel, 1-8 scope, HD, plinking, varmints yadda yadda everybody should have one right
-Ruger Gunsite Scout 308 xs rail, Leupold vx-r 3-9, pretty cool bush gun
-Remington 870 12 gauge, have an HD barrel and a 28" barrel, classic gun, again everyone should have something similar

So I have a couple holes still, long range hunting rifle, 7mm or 300 WM and a precision rifle, maybe 6.5 Creedmoor or some such thing, those will get filled here at some point, but the thing I'm looking at now is a fun gun, something that gets the blood pumping.

    Things I'm not interested in
DEagles, S&W 329's or similar airweight revolvers

    Thing I've had and enjoyed
Ruger Bisley 454, Ruger Alaskan 454, 629's etc

So what do you have as your ridiculous gun? I'm thinking about an S&W X frame or a Ruger Toklat or something similar, maybe a short Marlin 45-70. I have a month to think about it. Ideas?
    Thanks!

Blackhawk in 30 carbine is awful fun, makes a big fireball and boom, is accurate, and has very affordable ammo. Doesn't quite fit in your list of desires, but they sure are fun!

Another thing I was looking at was the shockwave, that looks pretty fun and not very expensive

How about a Franklin Armory XO-26 if you can find one, big middle finger to the man, and no AOW needed. Or a snub nose S&W 460 V will always get the job done, with 3 choices of ammo to boot.

I do have a S&W M629 with 3" barrel, but I mostly shoot .44 Special loads in it so I don't know if that counts. I have only shot 10 full power .44 Magnum rounds thru it myself but I do make it available to others if they want to make a little noise.

I have a Ruger SBH in .44 magnum with 7.5" barrel that I have no practical purpose for. Don't ever plan to hunt with it, nor compete with it, nor use it for self defense. It's just a big bore plinker that I also make available for show-and-tell at group shoots.

I also have a Type 53 Mosin Nagant specifically to make noise and shoot fireballs. I actually spent some time trying to come up with a handload that would produce a large fireball out of the muzzle of the 20" barrel. Never quite got there. H335 produced a big flash, but not in the shape of a fireball like I was hoping for. Stumbled upon an IMR4350 load that gave me 4 MOA with the carbine (which I considered good for that gun) but no fireball to speak of. Yes, I own that rifle mainly because sometimes it's fun to burn the powder OUTSIDE of the barrel

To answer your question, I suggest a Magnum Research BFR in whatever ridiculous chambering you desire.

The Shockwave is a SBS under CA law so, it's a no go. A legit NFA registered 12g AOW is exempt from CA's SBS laws. You could have an 07FFL with a SOT remanufacture a Shockwave to be an AOW if you really wanted one.

Shockwaves are not legal in California.

2mm Pinfire is pretty ridiculous (unless you hunt stag beetles).

My truly fun gun is a Remington 1100 .410... Great Quail and dove gun and fun to shoot skeet with... Yes I do reload 410 to keep the cost down though..
A Winchester sx3 or sx4 in 20 guage will be my next fun gun,,, and probably more "practical".. No reloading for 20ga,,, its pretty cheap to feed...
                      Cheers...

These were the ones I was looking at, not a true shockwave, just a 500 with a birdseye grip
