Mount it to a holster? Then magnetize?

Again, for me it would be in my quick access safe that has a holster and presents the holstered gun to you.

If I were using a magnet I would also use one of these MIC Holsters to cover the trigger and just tie it so it will be pulled off after you grab and remove the gun from the magnet. All in one pull.

No but I have one under my desk at work. Sometimes clients notice paperclips dancing over it so I tell them I think the desk is haunted.


Also comes in handy if someone sketchy wants to pay with a credit card. Hmmm your card doesn't seem to work, want to go get some cash?

You might leave a gun laying on the nightstand (lots do), but I don't. It is either in a safe or a holster. The holster covers the trigger so when half asleep the trigger cannot be grabbed. Doesn't really have anything to do with practice in my opinion. If you just lay it on a nightstand, it might be in any place and orientation and probably with no consistency.

At least with the magnet it would be in the same place and orientation so that practice would probably help reduce the chance of grabbing the trigger.

Most people will not practice at all grabbing their gun in the middle of the night after being woken up by a noise. It's different than just sitting on the bed in the evening and practicing.

I'm glad it works for you, but I doubt it has much to do with muscle memory unless you are someone that practices grabbing your gun in the middle of the night with some regularity to develop that muscle memory.

the ability to repeat a specific muscular movement with improved efficiency and accuracy that is acquired through practice and repetition

I think that most people know approximate placement of items on their nightstand and can reach over and usually get close to their target in complete darkness. That's not being safe in my opinion with a loaded and unholstered gun, so that method is not one for me. That's all my point is.

They do make a bedside holster, has a long strap that you slip between the mattress and box spring/box board.

Here in AZ I just keep mine in my carry holster on the night stand. Easy enough to grab, easy enough to remove from the holster.

The wife is taught to reply back if she got up and made noise while I was asleep.

I personally like the challenge word/reply method.

I really don't see an advantage here. Nothing wrong with having a bare neked pistol sitting on your side of the bed on the night table. Keeping a pistol hot and ready to go now is better than having to remember to charge it before you need it. Keep your flash light next to the gun & cell.
I'm a big advocate for keeping the gun within easy reach and ready to go to work when needed.
Safety focus is still the same. The 4 golden rules apply at all times. Right?
No need for magnets, but magnets are cheap. Home Depot coated magnets are cheap. Hang'em on the fridge with the post cards from the Hawaiian islands. [emoji41]
