No, a gun safe is not required by law for storage.

Transport - unloaded in a locked case for handguns, unloaded for long guns - see the wiki, http://wiki.calgunsfoundation.org/in...e=Transporting
ARCHIVED Calguns Foundation Wiki here: http://web.archive.org/web/201908310...itle=Main_Page

Frozen in 2015, it is falling out of date and I can no longer edit the content. But much of it is still good!

However, if you own more than 3 long guns, you'll probably end up getting a safe eventually.

Use search lots of posts on this. Lots of FUD out there as well.Never ask gun store employee or a cop about firearms laws. To many idiotic answers from uninformed. By the way everyone should have a safe. It keeps the nosey (inquisitive) people from getting in trouble. Kids especially.
NO UNLOADED FIREARM LOCKED IN A SAFE EVER SHOT ANYONE. NOR DID IT OPENLY OFFEND ANYONE WITH A LICK OF SENSE.

You must have a safe, and when you drive your firearms you must put the safe in your car. Buy a forklift while buying a safe, it will save your back - trust me on this.

I have a safe, but the idea that one is or should be required always puzzled me. Isn't my house a locked container?

I was so confused at first I actually tried this and hurt my back, so I found a used Brinks truck on Gunbroker and won, now it was a b***h to register at DMV, then the range I shoot at said it took up too many spaces in the parking lot, I swear you can't win in this state !
Oh no, not another 1911 !

Gun Safes are absolutly not a law or a requirement, neither is a chamber lock at home.

How do you plan to defend yourself if your gun is locked up?

                        Gun? Singular? Hmmm.

My HD gun is quickly available. Others are less so.

A gun safe is a great idea for any gun owner...

"secure" locked container. I think we all have a moral and ethical responsiblity to make sure our weapons are never taken and used to harm innocent people. A good solid well made gunsafe is a good investment you shoudnt lose money on and many other things can and should be safely kept in it besides guns... Jewelry, important documents etc...

Full disclosure.. I own three high quality safes. Wouldnt have the guns, watches, swords I have without them
