First, you could be pushing AB 357 on your state reps and senators and make sure it passes, then it'll be shall issue and you can all get your CCWs - and take some responsibility for the safety in your community because if you don't, who will?

Until then, you can LUCC (Locked, Unloaded CC) which at least lets you get into a 'ready mode' of cocked & locked if a bad situation develops and exercise your God-given right of self-defense if need be -

It's too bad the risks are all on the citizen ~

tell your friends and relatives, if they want CA to be safer, AB 357 !!

I should have thought my post out better and I've certainly stuck my foot in my mouth. No more knee-jerk posts for me.

And yes, the irony is not lost on me.

No joke. How is possibly saving your life, or protecting your family not worth it?

As a rider and someone with a CCW, this is the mindset that I have adopted. I have had people ask me why I carry, and I explain that it is like an insurance policy. Something I never want to use, but gain comfort from knowing it is there.

What I fine is some what disturbing is, that having a longer knife than the law allows is a felony....or a home made club is a felony! I wont carry without a CCW...and can't get one in the lovely state of cough....< Kalipornia one more thing to add...if you do get caught carrying without a CCW and are charged with a misdemeanor! There is no way in hell you will ever get a CCW in any state....think about it before you do it. JMO

Nope.....That is why a wise person carries the most reliable/inexpensive
                piece he can.

On a side note: If you guys knew what actually happens when you get caught
"carrying a loaded firearm" (hint)......you would tear up your CCW permits.

I asked a SD Sheriff's deputy a long time what it takes to get a CCW in our jurisdiction.

He replied off the record. "You need to be at least 2 out of 3 things--Rich, white and know the sheriff."

                    I'm 0 out of 3.

As we know, the same crime in different jurisdictions may get you an entirely different conviction, jail time and fine. Your ability to pay for a high priced attorney, a high gun crime county, and the judge's stance on gun control all have a bearing on "what actually happens when you get caught".
Beelsy, what happened to you when you got caught?
Firstly, who is condoning?? Certainly not I, my remark is simply that.

Secondly, who said anything about an "un-registered" weapon?? That practice
                      will land one in jail.

Lastly, for my experience all I can say is I didn't need a high priced attorney or even a cheap one for that matter, to pull my fat out of the fire.

                        Depends on who catches you.

In SoCal, it gets you arrested and booked into jail, confiscation & destruction of your handgun, $1000 fine and 3 years of probation during which you can not own/possess firearms and/or ammunition.

WOW! You seriously need to move.

As for me, I'm an L.A. real estate appraiser. I have worked in Compton, Watts, North Long Beach, empty HUD homes, you name it. The ONLY "trouble" I have ever had was a bunch of gangbangers in Compton who yelled out, "Hey Whitey. You lost?". I have also been pulled over numerous times by the Sheriff who asked if I knew what kind of neighborhood I was in and one even escorted me to the freeway to make sure I got out alive. It has never bothered me. I just go early, stay aware, and leave the Rolex at home.

My point is that I believe it is about attitude and awareness and that has worked for me so far. Having not been in the military or law enforcement, I am not properly trained to carry a weapon and respond to a threat. In a slight twist of the old saying, I would rather be carried by six than sued by 12 AND spend years in jail for accidentally killing the wrong guy. However, the moment CCW is legal, I'll be first in line to get properly trained and I would then carry absolutely. Hmmm, thinking about it, maybe I'll seek out the training anyway, it might be fun.
