    TargetMasters Milpitas- in trouble?

I went to TargetMasters in Milpitas today; I have not shot there for several months. The range is open as usual but gun sales are closed. Signs posted says until further notice but they hope to be back 02-15-19. The cases are still full of inventory.
I know many here dislike TM but I've been going there for over 20 years and never had any problems. Bought a few firearms there as well. Not sure if still true but I've heard they are in the top 10 firearms sales for NorCal. Like them or not- we can't afford to loose any more ranges in the SF Bay Area. I sure hope all is well at TM & that they will be back to business as usual ASAP.

I've heard the DOJ has inspected multiple gun stores in the Bay Area for one infraction or another - even for minutiae like unclear handwriting. I've talked to the owner once who told me the store has come under investigation just because they sell so many guns. Hopefully they're just training new FFLs or something.

If they have stopped selling guns, it means they are at the least knee deep in legal doo doo and trying to wade out of that.

I hate this place. I worked there for a month. I will never step foot in there again.

I've been there a few times. Inventory in the shop impressed me, the staff ignored me, and the shooting range scared me.

+1 on keeping local stores open
Rule 1- ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED

Rule 2 -NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO DESTROY (including your hands and legs)

Rule 3 -KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET

Rule 4 -BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET AND WHAT IS BEYOND IT
              (thanks to Jeff Cooper)

Their prices are pretty dam good and their rental/shooting prices are awesome if you take advantage of their happy hour. Too bad the staff is useless and the shooting range is poorly maintained and I don’t trust the people that shoot there.

Not necessarily. They have some strange processes where multiple people have to approve each step to ensure they stay compliant. Could be one of these key people is on vacation so they can't do their paperwork without them.

If there was a problem with their actual FFL then they wouldn't be able to run the range.

Could also be a $$ problem where they didn't pay their DROS fees, or send in their renewal documentation in time so can't use the system to DROS firearms.

I like target masters. Don’t go there on a Friday or Saturday night and its fine, way too much hate on cal-guns for target masters. They have some the best selection and prices in the Bay Area and being able to rent a gun before you buy it is nice. I go during there happy hour times for 1/2 off and the place is usually almost empty

You worked there too ? Who was your handler ?

Probably the owner on vacation along with the head janitor being out and no one trained to do the work .

They have had problems with paper work , and guns vanishing into thin air before. ( spent a lot of time in the attic going thru boxes and boxes of 4473s for inspection ).
