It would demonstrate how the new rule of requesting a serial number from CA DOJ does nothing to stop criminals as was said from the beginning. What felon that is going to do a build will follow the process to get rejected and arrested before building a gun..yeah right..

The dude was probably the buddy of Kate Steinly's killer.

Any way, Leon effectively pulled the trigger himself.

I was thinking more along the lines of the fodder it will add to the bills trying to regulate firearm parts required to complete an 80% build.

I am sure he purchased the gun illegally off the street like most gang members do. In the poor areas of San Jose where there are gangs, thats how most get their guns. Even the people who otherwise obey the laws and do not commit crimes illegally obtain guns for their own protection (they tend to be poor people trapped in a bad neighborhood) off the streets (less expensive and they would not be able to get a gun legally due to their status, age, etc.). I heard this from a priest who is involved in the communities.

What gun id the scumbag illegal alien use? Was it a roster'd gun? Was it off roster? There was a cop down here in Socal that intentionally sold a lot of guns to gangs for a marked up price.

Probably a 100% self stolen model.

The draconian laws here make it easier to get an illegal transfer of a firearm then going through the process to get a legal one. It's quite sad.

Take a look at armslist for the number of sales postings where "no ffl needed". You'll see them pop up on craigslist also. Some of those are stings by cops, but most are transactions that happen under the table. Heck, I've been approached by PM from someone wanting a "no ffl transfer" on a for sale thread here on calguns years ago. It was reported to the management and Kes banned the account.

Straw purchase by someone who can pass a background check is another method.

Anyone with a gang background can easily get a firearm from the gang. The gangs either get them from theft/burglary/robbery or by importing them. See Leland Yee for an example of illegal imports.

If you can smuggle tons of drugs and people why not fire arms?

who is to say the gun wasnt from Mexico. Much easier to get in Mexico than USA.

illegal in the sense of USA laws or Mexican laws. Why assume its was sourced from the USA when Mexico is much easier. The corruption in Latin American is far more than most North Americans can comprehend. Yes... its that bad. Im glad Trump get its.

Well, he's illegal so it doesn't matter where the gun came from. He's not allowed to own one legally here in U.S.

Of course it matters. If he came here illegal why not the fire arms, an other illegal contra-bands. It forces some political parties to deal the reality that our border is open to illegal weapons, aliens and drugs. Of course all the blame is pinned on North Americans.. Drugs, Guns and Migrants.
