Living in a free state where you can take home multiple guns in a 10 min transaction, every gun I currently buy is impulse. Kinda like walking through the grocery store and seeing a food that looks good so you toss it in your cart to test out.

Wife wanted to buy me a handgun for Christmas one year with money she saved from working. Had to be 9mm so she could shoot it too. I was looking at Glocks, she said I should get something nicer. I spot a H&K, held it & had to have it. Done! For 10 days I was feeling guilty about buying a gun that was more expensive than the Glock. First day at range erased all that!

Biggest regret was not impulse buying all those Colt 1911’s in the display case that were a debit card away then! Damn!

It took me years to give in to impulse buys. Before I used to kick myself afterward for missing out on good deals. Now I buy anything that gives me a gut feeling to get it and 9 times out of 10 I am rewarded.

I definitely do impulse buys about 90% of the time.
If the gun looks good, the deal looks good, and I don't already have it AND it's in a caliber I reload for... I jump fast.

My most pleasant surprise was a CZ 75-P01 that I bought off of a fellow cal gunner. I've been on the fence about CZ's in general, but this one just spoke to me. Took her out this weekend, and put about 400 rounds through her, and really REALLY like her. The original owner put a pimp-tastic aftermarket trigger in, and she's a real shooter.

Some months back I was picking up yet-another-glock, and took a liking to an RIA 1911. I know, it's a RIA... but this one was really tight, and the fit was surprisingly nice. After I changed out the ignition bits, I ended up with quite a nice shooting 1911 for cheap. I think it was like $400 at my LGS gathering dust. I'm very glad I got her.

The only time I've every been disappointed by an impulse buy was a Taurus wheel gun in 357. It feels nice enough... but it's just not worth what I paid. (I think I paid like 250).

When you see a deal, jump on it. I'm still deeply heartbroken over a pristine unfired M1918 BAR that I missed out on while on vacation out of state. I didn't have room on my card, and by the time I got a check fed-ex'd to the gun shop, the seller changed his mind. I've impulse bought like 5 guns since then trying to get over the disappointment using retail therapy... but alas, I remain quite sad.

Probably one of my most favorite guns was a true impulse buy in the most classic sense. While building my cadre of Glocks, I saw a G20SF come up. I'd never had anything in 10mm before, so I figured "Hey, this kinda completes the set". She turned me into a 10mm fan boy, and now I'm pushing 500-750 rounds through her and my G29SF every month... and even use the G29SF as my main EDC.

You never know who you're going to fall in love with... so if a deal is good... go for it. You can always pass her along to someone else.

Ya it’s happened probably 50 times.

Every time I go into a shop I end up buying something in addition. Why not. You’re not going to lose a bunch of money.

I had a chance to "impulse buy" a new Glock 17 RTF2 with the fish scale serrations for $499 , it was his last one and he brought it out from the back

I made the mistake of passing on it and tried to go back the next day to buy it and it was gone.

My 442. I bought it in the 90s when CCW wasn't even on the horizon for me. It had no practical use in my collection.

Now it's my everyday carry gun. Just perfect in every way for a peaceful, low profile person.

I bid on it and as the time dwindled down I kept doing more research with little luck. I was afraid to ask around because I did not want it stolen out from under me. I won it and even after the auction was over and I paid I was worried the seller would back out due to the price I paid. I was stressed out until I had it in my hands a week after the auction ended.

Extremely rare to find in the USA complete factory build selectfire Hungarian FEG AMP-69 grenade launching capable AK47.

I still hesitate on my impulse buys. I only had maybe 2 days to do the research on it and still have not found any info on its value. The best I could do was find sold prices on cut up parts kits so I set my limit to those prices. I could cut it up today and make money off it. I could sell it to a dealer that could get a demo letter for even more. I could drop my SOT and sell it with no letter for even more. I was expecting to pay a lot more for it. After I had it in my hands I asked the seller if he knew what it was and he had no idea since he was brokering it for someone else. If he did the research I'm sure he would have listed it much higher.

I have no idea how it shoots. After watching some videos and just holding it I imagine it is horrible. I have a post sample Saiga I beat on so there is no need to shoot this one. After inspecting it and having a friend that is very familiar with AK internal wear we both concluded it is either brand new or was hardly shot at all. Maybe some factory test fires only. This is something I will probably built a display case for and take it to AK events like Red October or other shows so people can see it up close.

I have a grenade for it now. Arrived Christmas eve.

Auctions are my undoing. Even with previewing and making all your notes in the margins, when it comes to bidding it's all impulse. My last auction I ended up filling out eleven 4473's at the end of the night.

Just about every gun I own was an impulse by. Now I'm getting married in four days, so I guess that's probably the end of that. But at least my safe is full.
