"SHOOT STRAIGHT" (or whatever that place is called) NEEDS to be SHUT DOWN & the OWNERS/OPERATORS PROSECUTED to the FULLEST EXTENT OF THE LAW for GROSS NEGLIGENCE RESULTING IN (1)MURDER and (1) PREVENTABLE SUICIDE!!!!!! No questions asked. This woman should have not only been banned from the range (SHAME on YOU, ShootStraight!!!! Shame on you.), but she should STILL be in a padded room & her son should still be alive. My condolences go out to the families that are now going to have to endure the kind of unbearable mental suffering that actually causes physical illness (ask me how I know......actually, DON'T). However, my question is "WHEN the F**K is society going to get a clue & start blaming the REAL culprits? NO, NOT GUNS.........Careless individuals that facilitate this inexcusable BULLSH*T. - sorry, rant over, but I'm very pissed off that yet again (think:gun-related murders in the last month) the anti's/Brady's have another round of "ammo" in their "arsenal" they are trying to build to F**K us.

that's soooo bad. I cant believe that people would be as selfish!! It's bad enough taking your own life, but murdering a family member (and subjecting others innocents to witness that trauma).... unforgivable.

I try to remember that there are people like that out there, and there is really nothing we can do about that. However the door swings both ways.... there are people doing beautiful things everyday....

I guess it's really up to us whether we choose to walk in the darkness (until it consumes us), or we can search for the light that exists in all of us.

Either way it is OUR choice.

I gotta ask ya -- When you go to the range, do they run your name through a database? Do they compare your picture to a book they keep of "known problem people"? Does your range keep a database of everyone who has ever been there, and would you want them to?

I mean, honestly, practically, how were they supposed to prevent this? Odds are that whoever rented her the gun or the lane was some employee who wasn't working there a few years ago when she tried her shenanigans. Unless you want more red tape and some kind of intrusive federal or state oversight over who gets to use ranges and more paperwork every time you hit the range, you really don't want any of the things you are asking for above.

Let's not make the same mistake the gun-grabbers are making and blame the store/range for someone's stupid and crazy actions. The guns aren't to blame, the range isn't to blame -- the stupid crazy nut who the system didn't keep locked up is to blame. If you want to blame someone, blame the system that lets idiots like this lady loose to do things that give gun owners a bad name.
