Springfield Armory is just the exclusive North American importer of it.

For the rest of the world; they are known as the HS series, not the XD series.

All Springfield 1911's with "WW" or "N" prefix serial numbers are 100% Brazilian. 1911's with an "NM" serial number prefix are finish machined and assembled here with components shipped from Brazil.

I love S/A products, they always go "bang" when you ask them to.

My SA Pro serial # has a prefix of CRG; I'm guessing that it too is a Brazilian forging finished in America?

US made by the Springfield Armory Custom Shop uses serial number prefix of CRG, FBI, DEA, and TGO.

It sure has been a wacky ride, that's for sure. There's a guy around here who has a Gilroy Indian with an S&S engine, the last time I saw him was a few years ago, he had well over 100k miles on that bike.

What Springfield Armory offers are some of the best 1911s for the money, anywhere. I own two. I don't own an SA M1, but will one day, because they're also the best modern mass-produced offering of the M1 pattern.

I'd love to get an M1, they're a beautiful gun.
