Need target ideas

those are cool. maybe i'll rig up some type of device with these on cord
maybe i should have mentioned in the op, but a big part of this is to shoot stuff that is not paper. we're all bored with target shooting and wanted the flexibility to put out our own targets, hence the request for ideas. will be there with a couple leos and their families and some newbs too. i count myself with the newbs btw...
this is a strictly recreational shooting day. nobody's training or anything
keep the ideas coming.
the bowling pin thing is interesting. what's inside of those? i would have guessed that they fracture into a bunch of small pieces when hit.Comment

I have those and gave up on them. The ground ones require soft dirt or you risk ricochets. Both the ground and mounted ones work best with fat and slow bullets otherwise most shots will just zip right through like nothing was there.sigpic

Bowling pins are typically oak with a plastic coating, so very hard.
We have a cable to hang targets from at our range. We hang three pins about 3 feet apart. See this CG thread I started.
The pins are tough, and should last for several outings. Plus, it's great fun to try hit them as they swing.

Organics? Sounds as if someone has been watching episodes of "Mail Call", "Lock and Load", or "Gunny Time" where R. Lee Ermey was shooting watermelons...For a private day at burro cyn.
What are some target ideas that make for good shooting? I already have organics in mind (eggs, fruits, veggies...) maybe some ballons if im up for putting in the time. Bottles and cans may be fun but dont want to do too much of that cuz of all the cleanup.
Ideally something that can be shot repeatedly but will still react to being hit. Don't want to spend too much time with a cold range.
Restrictions are no metal targets due to fire hazard. The risk is real obviously.
Anything non biodegrable would most likely need to be cleaned up.
A great memorable quote from the Mail Call movie on Quotes.net - R. Lee Ermey: Watermelon, you will die!
R. Lee Ermey: "Watermelon, you will die!"
Get some large cardboard boxes and tape some shoot and see targets on them. Easy to transport, set up, and remove/ dispose of them afterwards.sigpicMember of the N.R.A., Marine Corps League, and American Legion.Comment
