I think "blued" versions are a thing of the past for Colt, if the Pythons did come out again I bet it would be the same satin finish like the new Cobra, and maybe BSTS down the line...

Is the "classic" S&W .357 (19, 27, 28) so inferior that it does not get the same kind of adoration? By the way, I always thought the S&W cylinder release felt more natural (works by sliding in the opposite direction as Colt's design).

I always thought the cost to manufacture these guns was too high to produce them.
It takes a lot of balls to play golf the way I do.

Those are great too. But they do not have the sexy looks that Pythons do. Must be the ribbed barrel or the nice blue finish or something.
That is IMHO, and apparently a lot of other people too. That is why pythons are so expensive these days.

You are probably right, as Colt does not have anything on roster.

But as others have said, you can still get just about any revolver using SAO exemption.

I have no doubt they will be priced accordingly, and then some.

Colt hates California and Californians.

Don't expect them to apply for The Roster, even if the gun qualifies.

Would like to see what the quality is like before getting too excited. Colt had many skilled employees building them back then. I doubt they can duplicate the quality today. We shall see.

The newer Python Elites were not the quality of the straight Pythons but I’d
qualify that with Colt strike guns from the mid-80s. Some of those were less
then Colt quality all the way around. As time has marched on many older
Pythons in BLUE have been refinished. They look good but they have 0%
Original Finish. Look closely at Python marks to be sure they are SHARP like
the picture I’m posting. The small VP in a triangle is supposed to be the
last stamp on a Colt AFTER finishing. If it’s not sharp beware. As far as Colt
reintroducing I’d like to see it.

I'm quite content with my blued pythons, quality and finish is impeccableIMG_3156.jpg

They will never be able to match the quality action/finish of the originals.

I've heard that the actions on the new cobras is pretty nice. I'd be fine with a new production python with the same action. May not be as nice as an original python, but it should be more durable. That is of course, assuming they don't mess up the looks of it like they did with the new cobra. That trigger guard, matte finish, fugly cylinder latch, and no wood grips just screams cheap to me. Colt doesn't seem to understand what the people who would buy their revolvers really want. It seems most people want classic, elegant looking Colts, not modern tacticool revolvers.

I bought this magnum to shoot in lieu of my pythons, it's well made and a great target gun

I'd be surprised if Colt could afford the tooling needed.
