    Ak47 or M14

What is a good Ak to buy but i guess not so expensive?

Or does it make more sense to get the M14 setup shown in the picture?

I dont want to put a scope on it either maybe just a eotech red dot at most. Im not sure if the grip is legal either...smh

Mini 14- different caliber than most AK’s. What caliber do you want to shoot?

There's a bunch of different things to consider.

Since the ammo law, what prices are you looking at for 7.62x39 versus .223/5.56?

Does your range of choice have restrictions (i.e. steel cased, steel core) on ammo?

How do you like featureless grips?

And finally, what's your budget for a new rifle?

Mini 14 is a terrible rifle.

                    AK all the way.

Galil. Well, an Ace would be cheaper & easier to get than an original Galil. And the Ace comes in 7.62x39 or 5.56 or 7.62NATO.

Sure, the Mini 14 is heavier, more expensive, less accurate, and less reliable than any competing intermediate caliber semi auto rifle on the market.

I had one for several years and it was simply not a decent rifle. It wasn't reliable, often failing to eject fully causing stove pipe malfunctions, especially with optics mounted.

It was inaccurate, 4 inch groups on GOOD day with factory ammo. First shot was always 6 inches low and left from every magazine. Point if impact would shift drastically (about 10 inches) in a random direction from day to day so I was constantly rezeroing.

You can add weight to it with heavier barrels and things hanging off the barrel, but then the rifle is front heavy and starts to tip the scales into bench rest rifle territory with a fraction of the accuracy of other rifles of comparable weight.

The rear sight assembly falls off, even with loc-tight it still shook loose every few hundred rounds.

Essentially everything wrong with the M14 and why they sucked is the same for the Mini 14 except it's just more cheaply made.
