    Eventually

In another 2 generations, at the most, we'll have similar laws to Europe.

Two generations I'll be dead. I'll know I did my part to keep the principles the country was founded on. If the people who belong to that two generations want to change their government that's up to them. After all it was how this country came into existence. I just hope they are as smart as the originals.

PS. As long as I'm here I'll fight to keep it as close to the original vision as possible.

Everyone on this site should be a CRPA and NRA lifetime member. Money talks. In the end its all a game and the score is kept in dollars.

But in all seriousness.... If gruesome enacts a ban, whether of "assault weapons" or semi-automatic hand guns.... Does that mean we are supposed to turn those currently legally owned should be turned in? (never mind the "over my cold dead body" comments....) and considering the cost of said weapons and any upgrades/changes/parts.... how would the legal owner be compensated?

We're winning the war against guns nationally. It just doesn't look like that because anti-gun urban dwellers write news stories and fictional entertainment; with the later following the Entertainment Industries Council guide showing them how to portray firearms and gun owners negatively.

In District of Columbia v. Heller circa 2008, the Supreme Court affirmed that the Second Amendment protects an individual right to own firearms in common use.

In McDonald c. City of Chicago circa 2010 the Supreme Court held that the Second Amendment restricted state and local governments.

Since then, living constitution Justice Kennedy who voted against certiorari on Second Amendment cases was replaced by originalist Justice Kavanaugh giving us a court likely to vote 5-4 to hear our cases then rule in our favor.

85 year old Justice Ginsburg is likely to die while we have a President appointing originalist justices based on ideological purity and young age, and Republican Senate willing to confirm them.

In 1994 when the AR-15 was perceived as an underpowered plastic poodle shooter, passing the assault weapon ban flipped 258–176 / 57–43 Democratic congressional majorities to 230–204 / 55–45 Republican. Quoting an interview with President Clinton's chief congressional affairs lobbyist Patrick Griffin https://www.theatlantic.com/politics...reform/488045/
When asked if this bill was a key element, Griffin said: “Absolutely. Yes. I’d say, for 40 of those seats, yes. For [Judiciary Committee] Chairman [Jack] Brooks (of Texas) to lose his seat [after 42 years]? Foley? These guys had been safe forever. And they voted against all this stuff but they were still targeted politically because their president was for the [assault weapon] ban.”
America has become significantly more gun-ho since then.

Ruger went from supporting the 1994 assault weapon and magazine ban, to selling AR-15s, extended magazines for 10/22s, and suppressors.

                    Guns owned in 1994: 192,000,000

                    Guns owned in 2018: 390,000,000

No. We're supposed to sell them out of state.

This also ignores the form a ban will take.

Technically speaking, guns remain legal in some countries which have banned them; although the license for possession costs more than the average income.

Unfortunately, it's going to be a very bumpy ride in California.

Our legislature banned all magazine fed semiautomatic rifles in 2013, and they only remain legal today because Governor Brown was unwilling to risk that step too far causing the Supreme Court to overturn California's existing "assault weapon ban."

Driven by his grandfather's suicide and threat to kill his mother, Newsom won't be limited by pragmatic reason.

The 2016 magazine bans demonstrated both he and the legislature are willing to ban things without a grandfather clause.

Most handguns can be found via database entries, along with long guns transferred from 2014 onward.

Those who have tasted and love the God inspired principles of the Constitution, will gather together in the future to fight for it again. The most wicked in this country will be destroyed and the more righteous survive. The scriptures are clear what happens to a country or people when they ripen in inequity. Things get so bad the more righteous are driven out then the wicked are destroyed. This is happening in the country now- good people are wanting to leave CA. They will disarm CA and the invading country will clean out the wicked here on the coast. God fearing states, armed will push them out of our country.
