I'm trying to figure out why the Glock front sight screw that I applied Red to has started to come loose.

          How about some accurate info...

Purple = 222 - use on thread diameter up to 1/4", easy removal with hand tools
Blue = 242 - use on thread diameter 1/4" and above, remove with standard hand tools, may require power tools depending on application
Red = 262 - considered 'permanent' requires power tools and/or heat for removeal
Green = 272 - this stuff is just plain evil! Do not use on any firearm!
The thing with firearms is that they are not like any other consumer product, simple ownership of one carries a lot of responsibility.

Some idiots are too busy knowing it all to ever learn anything

not really. LOL i removed the clutch hub of my ducati to put a slipper. factory actually put red locktite there. the service manual says "red" locktite. some other racers/riders put red loctite.

but i was able to take it off. what a beoth I tell you. a little below 200NM or torque. i just used blue locktite when i put the new one one.

red just makes it harder to remove. to semi-perm might be it.

i can't remember where capt. speirs... maybe it was my wife's revolver (i think it was that). told me to locktite something. said just use red so i don't ever deal with it. i think it was the safety? can't remember. i didn't though. just left it alone. never really heard/come across of having "to" locktite anything on a firearm. then again, i consider myself still a newb.

used to use blue and red on rc cars, blue is kind of like sticking a wad of gum in there, and red has one loud snap then its clear to come out normally. personally i prefer red as its less messy.

What a stupid post. Loctite is absolutely relevant to firearms. Scope rails, sight mounts, scope rings. All sorts of places where it is desireable and often used.
The only 'bandwidth vampire' is YOU, showing your ignorance about loctite's applicability with firearms.

I use purple (low strengh) on my firearms. Works great for me and I don't have to worry about extreme measures when I want to take things apart.
