Blue holds tight but not perm. Red is semi-perm. Sometimea it takes extreme heat to break red loctite's hold.

Blue = loosen by heat and vibration
Red = loosen by plasma cutter

Hey, sometimes Calguns yields a faster answer than researching ourselves.

I use the blue thats sold in gel form. If something needs red loctite to stop it coming apart it's more fun to fire up the Tig

Anybody know where to get purple Loctite? I see the red and blue all the time, but don't know of anyone who carries the purple. Its great stuff. Never used it on guns, but used to use it all the time when building bicycle wheels. It's grasp is less than the blue which allows for hand adjustments after its set, but generally stuff won't vibrate loose (at least not the nipples threaded onto the end of spokes). We couldn't use anything stronger because it would bind too well thereby preventing further adjustments to truing the wheel.

Purple = Red + Blue. It's for those people who are out of JB Weld.

This threadlocker is low strength and requires only handtools to remove once applied.

It would help remove the general confusion if Loctite would stop packaging red loctite in a blue container and blue loctite in a red container.

blue tastes better. Don't ask me how I know. If your are curious... it tastes sweet.

Blue for general nuts, bolts, Etc. that you want to remove later using general hand tools. You just do not want it to come apart on its own.

Red for things like engine studs that you DO NOT want to come apart without a lot of effort on YOUR part.
