Always fun info to have at hand:

    Attorney General Information Bulletin 2001 FD-01 (https://oag.ca.gov/sites/all/files/a...obuls/0101.pdf)
Firearms dealers are required to conduct private party transfers pursuant to Penal Code section 12071(b)(5). Dealers may not limit the days or hours in which private party transfers are conducted.
    11 CCR 4033 (https://govt.westlaw.com/calregs/Doc...(sc.Default)):
    (b) Except as otherwise provided in Penal Code sections 28050 through 28070, a dealer shall process a section 28050 transaction in the same manner as if it were a dealer retail sale.
    https://leginfo.legislature.ca.gov/f...ctionNum=28065.)
28065. Notwithstanding any other provision of law, a dealer who does not sell, transfer, or keep an inventory of handguns is not required to process private party transfers of handguns.

You'd be surprised how people's tune change when DOJ makes a call.

Yeah, lots of stores seem to be rejecting PPTs now. I had that experience recently. But I'm not going to push the issue - I don't want the FFL to "mess up paperwork" because I waved the law in their face to get a PPT done.

Stores that don't deal only in guns and gun ranges don't seem to mind PPTs. I mean most people buying and selling guns are outdoorsmen and those stores usually have mags, ammo, hunting gear, you name it. And gun ranges want you to get new guns cause you have to take it out at the range after you get it right?

If PPT is required by law and it's their legal obligaltion to process it then why do we need to call them?

Fortunately, all my PPT were 100% processed with zero drama. If I was refused the first time, I'll never go back to that store and spent my hard-earned money elsewhere.

Support lgs/ffl that doesn't make excuses to do a PPT.

It's been about 2.5 years since I PPT'd there. Everything was honky dory back then. That's too bad, they didn't make me buy a lock back then.

F On Target. Employees there are a bunch of tools who can shoot for isht. Heard the stupidest stories and one of them saying he cant wait to take off his BB once he registers his rifle, all in the 10 min I was in line to get a lane because my cp-worker wanted to shoot. Feel bad for the people that only have that nuthouse to shoot at.

I personally don't call DOJ but there is no misunderstanding. They just don't want to do PPT and are willing to commit misdemeanors to get out of it.

There are only so many staff members at any gun store, and gun dealers make nothing on PPT’s, and as a paying member of that range, I like that they prioritize members over people coming in and expecting them to drop everything for non-range biz (no offense to Festersam whom I’ve actually done a PPT with!). How about you discreetly email the range and express your concerns to the manager?

BTW this range offers FREE gun transfers to members. Hell of a service since most FFLs charge ~$50. I can order from any gun store in America and have it shipped there for free. If you buy a couple of guns a year, their $225 membership becomes a lot more palatable.

They’ve also done fundraisers for Don Barnes, and other pro-2A advocacy.

If we start turning on gun ranges and stores, we might find there are none left in CA someday...just sayin’.
There was no misunderstanding, the place was half empty and it was a Saturday at 3pm. They're staff is a bunch of lazy jerks who treat customers like we're idiots, I regret letting them profit from three guns I'd purchased there. Truth be told they're also not that informed on guns. I tired to DROS an AUG there and Josh no idea what a bullpup rifle was, wasted 4 hours of my time that day.
I've already filed my complaint with the CA DOJ and I encourage all others who've had this problem with them to do the same.
