    PPT question

I thought that all gun stores were required to do PPT transfers? This is the second time I've been to On Target in Laguna Niguel and they refused to do a PPT because they were busy. Has anyone else had this experience?

They are legally required to do ppts but many of them find loopholes. I’ve heard every excuse in the book: “we have no room in our safe” or “you need to call and make an appointment” etc. or they have odd hours when they will do ppts.

I just avoid those places and go to the helpful ffls that do ppts without making the customer jump thru hoops. And I buy stuff there too, so they’re making more than the $10 fee.

I would have written them off after the first rejection. There's enough better shops around that are dying for business, [bleep] them.

Been gone too long. It's been 15 to 20 years since i had to shelf my guns. Those early years sucked.

I find FFLs and LGS usually resist PPT for walk ins and people that aren't regular customers. If you're someone that buys from them regularly and you have a relationship with them, they are more likely to do a PPT when you want one.
I don't know anything about On target and the relationship you have with them nor do I know anything about Turners (Geez, I really dislike Turners) so YMMV.

Sort of. My goto place was Wimpey's Pawn shop, but they've turned into douchebags. They'll only do PPTs on Thursdays. Found this out when I went there Wednesday. I paid the seller extra to meet me there, too. Wasted money and time.

According to family feud, no room in safe is the number one answer

They have been d-bags for many years you just didn't notice. If you feel the need tell DOJ. I just voted with my wallet and never went back.

I bet On Target has room in the safe for their own guns they sell! Same thing, call DOJ and/or just stop going. I don't do PPT there due to their games and stopped shooting there once they required a thumb print to do so. A requirement I know of at no other range.

Shops were doing this 10 years ago.
Claiming no room in safe or just deciding to falsely claim it's a California assault rifle (my biggest gripe).. And yes, Turners was part of it too...

You should make an effort to complain to DOJ, IF they get enough complaints they will contact the offenders to cease.. FFL's are legally required to accept PPT's any hours they are selling handguns.. It does make me angry too.. Funny story, was trying to do a PPT with a LEO once and the dealer told us they did NOT do PPT's on the weekend.. The LEO asked if they were aware that was illegal and showed his badge, we Proceeded to Quickly do the PPT at that point! LOL

My favorite was when I met someone to PPT a Ruger LCP which is a very tiny gun that fits in the palm of your hand.

I had called ahead of time asking if we could do a ppt next week and the salesperson said sure. So the buyer and I meet there and there is a sign on the door “ppts by appointment only”. Well it would have been nice if the guy told me that on the phone! So we go inside and explain what happened and how we each drove nearly 50 miles to meet here. The guy asks what we are transferring. I tell him its a Ruger lcp. You can see a look of disgust come across his face as he quietly thinks how he’s going to get out of this one. So he then says “we only have room in our safe for rifles”. Let that sink in for a bit. You can fit 20 LCPs in the space of one rifle.

I didn’t know there was a law that you couldn’t leave pistols and rifles in the same safe. You think they are going to have sex and make a bunch of illegal SBRs?
