Why Won't People Sell to CA?

Wondering, which part of what I said is not exactly true?
LaRue definitely does not send complete rifles, they say it expressly in their web site. Ya they did in the past, but the now do not. Something changing you know about?

How many stories have we heard about CA FFL employees not knowing the law(s)? Why would anyone expect an out of stater to know them or risk breaking them? I’m thankful for the shops & businesses that do take the time to navigate the BS.

We just got back from driving to Boulder CO to drop my kid in college. We stopped at a few gun stores in Utah and Colorado...damn...I forgot what real gun stores look like. My boys drooled on some nice shooters.

We got to talking to folks at the stores and talked about being from Ca...sure enough...they all said they felt sorry for us...and that basically they all would not even consider dealing with the hassle of shipping and all the tax issues and paperwork. Most acted like they were not even interested in trying to figure out the rules...not worth it was my take...

The liberals advertising how strict the laws are basically scares folks away from even trying to understand all the crap...

Looking forward to seeing some off roster handguns at 2x MSRP once your kid turns 21!

One of my distributors just suspended all sales to CA dealers due to prop 65 effective 8/21/18.
I doubt it will be long term. Probably just need to update ftp files to add warnings.

We all know those occasions when you really want that one rifle you've been eyeing for a while now but nobody has them in stock. Then you finally find one out of state for a decent price and you contact the seller. Once you tell them you're from CA they freak out and refuse to make the sell. I've even asked to pay for the supplies and labor to make the gun CA compliant before shipment but again, the answer is always no.

Why is this?

1. Unlike ATF DOJ won't tell people what's legal.
2. California state law is constantly changing with violations felonies each good for up to eight years in prison like rape.
3. Our cities have sued out of state vendors for selling things to their residents that were legal under state law.

As a private seller or small shop I wouldn't touch California with a hundred foot pole. Even some big shops won't accept the risk - CDNN refuses to sell semiautomatic rifle parts to Californians.

Do people not want to make a sale for a little extra effort or are they scared of our corrupt lawmakers and .gov?

Likely upside: zero, or at best I make a few dollars more from a Californian who buys at my high "make me sell" price.

Unlikely downside: I pay tens of thousands of dollars to defend myself in court.

Worst case scenario: I spend a decade or two in California prison and destroy my entire family.

Buy from a CA friendly dealer like Atlantic Firearms or Alpha Cat Armory (audiophil) if that's an option. You won't pay twice for shipping or bound book entries. You'll probably pay less markup because they're already making money on the sale.

If not, use a middleman. EBR works gets $35 + conversion + shipping to act as a middleman. Those guys are insanely quick and turned around a gun for me the same day they received it during The Double Panic of 2016. Alpha Cat / audiophil is good too.
