How convenient...they already have the fully staffed checkpoint, now they just need to get the directive (just following orders!) to abuse that power.

I drive through that AG Staion a couple dozen times a year. Flagged through almost every time. I often stop at Cabelas. Was asked once if I had firewood and maybe twice if I had any fruits or veggies and then waved through. The one on 50 I just drive around in the returning traffic lane.

Someone tell me where to find all this cheap ammo in NV and I'll buy some. I've looked, but can't find it. LOL, I couldn't even find it before it was an infraction to to bring it back.

I drive commercial truck for a living over that route. I also go to and from Reno regularly over that route in my personal vehicle.
If you have CA plates they will just waive you through, no stopping. There is no CHP on duty at the AG station.
The only time I have ever seen CHP at AG station was for drug search, and if you were to have seen the occupants of the vehicle they were searching, you would understand why....

CHP does not have staffing to man AG checkpoints and California is too broke to hire more officers.

If they did we would hear about it.

In my experience the only time they are there is when they are intercepting a known drug trafficker.

FUD FUD FUD FUD I have been driving this regularly for the last couple months and haven’t been stopped one time. I have been talking with my chp and pd shooting buddies about this since last year and they all have said Fud as well they don’t have the resources to police it. Unless he drove through waving his receipt from Cabela’s screaming I bought ammo! He’s not getting stopped for it.

Just got a first hand report from one of our club member. Coming back from Pyramid Range north of Reno, member was stopped at Ag inspection station on I-80. First asked about fruit and vegetables, then turned over to CHP who asked about guns and ammo. Driver stated it was in a locked box in back of truck and allowed to proceed.

Coming back from Pyramid Range is a <30 mile drive to an airport having a >6,000 foot improved runway with all the Avgas and Jet-A one would ever need. Both AG and CHP have zero jurisdiction between Pyramid and 6,000 feet of freedom.

Moral? Stop driving from Pyramid back to California, and be done with AG and CHP entirely. FUD or no FUD.

Well I heard from a friend of mine who knows a guy named Bob and he said that Bob told him that his friend Jim heard from another guy at the gun shop that a dude named Jose was checked for ammo at the Primm border inspection station. He claims that they used an x-ray machine on his van, and found he had a box of .22's under his seat. He was taken from his van at gun point and his .22's confiscated. Sounds legit, except for the gun store part.

Except there's no Primm checkpoint.

AG station employees are NOT LEO.

I pass through the I-5 AG station at Hornbrook and the AG station on 395 north or Susanville 1-3 times a month.

I rarely even stop. I roll through while shaking my head no.

And then there is the fact that it is an INFRACTION for the first offense so why would CHP or any other LEO give two f*#ks about some ammo that they would have a very hard time proving came from out of state unless you are as smart as a box of rocks and leave the receipt with said ammo or are dumb enough to admit to bringing it back or let anyone search your vehicle without a warrant.

This is total bull**** troll post. Drove through yesterday at 3pm on I80 westbound at Truckee. They don't even stop you, got a thumbs up and rolled on through.

Yeah, I know. Still under construction. Looks like it is getting close to completion. I used it to make a point about second hand information about the strip searches people are expecting to happen at the ag stations. I was an ag station brat while growing up. My dad worked at almost all of them while I was a kid. Even Hornbrook.

Went through the I-15 Barsow checkpoint last Thursday. Nobody was being stopped for anything except 18-wheelers.
P.S. The new checkpoint past Primm looks completed, no idea when it will open for Ag checks.
