I open carry pretty frequently, mainly because I don't feel like wearing a big shirt when I carry my G22, and I CC in colder weather. I know which establishments in my area prohibit OC and I simply don't go there, even when I'm CC'ing. I carry in a Level II Safariland holster and just go about my business without making a big deal about the fact that I have a gun, so I've never had any interactions, good or bad, in my area. I don't know, maybe people think I'm off duty LE, or maybe people don't care about a handgun after seeing people OC rifles a lot a few years ago. Either way, I haven't had any interactions.

That's the way it should be. I've never had an issue open carrying. The local park is near the police department. I often see dad's OCing while kicking a soccer ball with their kid. When my son was younger I used to chase him on the playground structure with my G26 on my hip. I had to twist to fit through the opening for the slide. During town events like "meet the police" I would be standing in line with my son so he could go in the bouncer house and I was surrounded by kids under 10 with my gun in plain sight. They have lockers outside city hall I use to store my gun and switchblade when I have business there. Never an issue and this is in a city with over 100,000 residents from all over the country.

I just don't CCW much anymore because crime is so low out here I really do not want to be burdened down. I OC in the desert mainly because there are wild dogs I have shot that wander on the range. I really do not worry about 2 legged folks out there because we all assume we are going to shoot so people stay away from each other. I've had a few close calls but every time I was with friends and we heavily outgunned the trouble makers.

Ironically, Tombstone used to be the only place you couldn't open carry in the state, courtesy of the Earps.

Ironically, if you go to the OK Corral gunfight show, you can't open carry. I guess they don't want any confusion about what is and what isn't part of the show. I moved to AZ about 3 months ago, 15 miles from Tombstone. I never see anyone open carry.
